SOAPnet is reporting that Daytime Emmy winner Martha Byrne will be joining the cast of GENERAL HOSPITAL as Mayor Garrett Floyd's wife, Andrea. The role is recurring.

This weekend at the Stagecoach festival, Jason Thompson (Patrick) revealed his excitement about the news.

I'm really excited, there's a lot of good stuff coming. I just heard that Martha Byrne is going to be joining the show, which is great. It's always good to have someone shake things up -- and especially when it's someone who's had such a distinguished career in daytime.
