Well, you know, it’s very sad. I spent 22 years on the show. Guiding Light has been my life! It was my first recurring role on national network television, and I can’t thank CBS enough for that opportunity. But my feeling on the whole matter is this: GUIDING LIGHT is ending on CBS, but I’m hoping that someone else out there will believe in and appreciate the show and pick it up. It’s a hope and a dream and a belief. I think it will have a home on another network, but I know of nothing specific. It’s just a gut feeling. As for the future, I have no choice but to pursue other interests and leads, but if GUIDING LIGHT is picked up by another network, I will stay on the show as long as they will have me.

As much as I don't care for Frank C..... I have come to LOVE Frank D.! I think we all tend to agree that it is very unlikely that CBS will have a change of heart... but never say never. Even if they do, I also think we all expect GL to continue somewhere and wherever that is... WE WILL FOLLOW!!! Keep the Light Shining!!!

ReplyDeleteFrom your gut to God's ears, Frank! Let's hope for many more years of Frank D. (and Frank c too) in the next phase of the Guiding Light grand adventure.
ReplyDeleteAfterall, with Blake taking on the job at Company... might be some opportunity for some Frank C. romance with a woman who doesn't flail her arms whenever he kisses her!
GL has a huge fanbase and we want GL to find a new home! We love you Frank D! Thanks for posting this, Roger.
ReplyDeleteI heart you Frank D! We need to stay positive and keep campaining. Let's keep the light shining! Wherever GL goes, I will follow!

ReplyDeleteWe're fighting for you and everyone at GL, Frank!
While he's not my favorite guy at the moment, my love for Frank goes back to his chop shop days. I heart his optimism and gut feeling! Together we can save the Light!
ReplyDeleteWe love you Frank D. and we are fighting to keep GL on the air!
ReplyDeleteWords can't express my sorrow at hearing the news about the cancellation of GL on CBS.
ReplyDeleteI've watched GL since Ed and Mike Bauer were young and it feels like losing a member of my family.
I am in hopes that GL will be picked up by another network but in the meantime I'm emailing every address I can find that might be relevant; posting on sites such as this and signing every online petition I can find in order to show support.
It's important that we not become complacent with our viewing or our actions.
I know of some viewers who have already stopped watching since hearing the news of cancellation. They feel, "why should they bother to get invested in GL when the show is going to end?"
I won't stop watching and I won't stop hoping that GL will not end, but will go on another 72 years, somewhere else.
CBS should be ashamed of how they treated everyone on GL by announcing this on April Fool's day, of all times...and my CBS viewing is all but ended come Sept.
My mother was an avid follower of Guiding Light for years. She always said Frank Cooper was one of her favorite characters. Based on what I have read about Frank Dicopoulos he seems like a class act and for those of you that do follow the show, I hope it finds another place.
