News Round-up: Anne Heche, Prod Placement, Hennesy

Anne Heche has a son, Atlas
Anne Heche and beau James Tupper welcomed their first child together over the weekend, a son named Atlas, a source tells Usmagazine.com. Heche, who won an Emmy for playing Marley and Vicky on ANOTHER WORLD, finalized her divorce from ex Coley Laffoon -- the father of her 7-year-old son, Homer -- earlier this week.

U.K. keeps product placement ban
The government is keeping the ban on product placement in British TV shows -- and struggling commercial broadcaster ITV, home to CORONATION STREET and EMMERDALE, is furious. Media minister Andy Burnham said Wednesday that a three-month consultation had failed to make a convincing case for product placement, which is widespread in the U.S.

Italy set to approve product plugs
The Italian government is set to allow product placement on local TV programs under new rules greenlit by the European Union. Italy's Senate on Wednesday began discussions on the controversial subject, but it is certain to pass because it's backed by the country's majority bloc headed by prime minister and Mediaset owner Silvio Berlusconi.

Hennesy, Hopkins join COUGAR TOWN
GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Carolyn Hennesy joins Courteney Cox Arquette in Bill Lawrence’s new show COUGAR TOWN. Meanwhile, Josh Hopkins (SWINGTOWN) will play Cox's neighbor. Busy Phillips, Christa Miller and Dan Byrd were previously announced as cast members. The single-camera ABC series centers on Julia (Cox), a newly singled 40-something mother with a teenage son. It takes place in suburban Florida, the local high school is the Cougars, they’re all psychotically obsessed with their local football teams, and everybody watches them on Friday nights.
