News Round-up: Stringfield, Roche, B&S Nominated

Sherry Stringfield cast in CBS pilot
GUIDING LIGHT alumna Sherry Stringfield has been tapped to co-star opposite Skeet Ulrich on the CBS drama pilot BACK. The project, from CBS Par, stars Ulrich as Richard, who returns home to discover he was reported missing eight years earlier, after Sept. 11. He must reconnect with his family and a world that has moved on without him.

Stringfield will play Richard's former wife who, after grieving over her husband's presumed death in the Sept. 11 attacks, has made a life for herself with her second husband, Tom, a firefighter, while taking care of her two troubled kids, 17-year-old Shannon and 13-year-old Michael.


TV academy chooses Honors class
Eight programs have been selected to receive the second annual Television Academy Honors. The ceremony, which will be held April 30 at the Beverly Hills Hotel and will be produced by Phil Gurin, acknowledges 2008 television programs tackling important social issues.

The honorees include last season's finale of BROTHERS & SISTERS that reflected the battle surrounding California's Proposition 8 that put a ban on gay marriages.

ESPN the Magazine on Jeff Burton's GH appearance
Burton's lines were faxed to him last week, and he swears, "I've looked at them." But his wife, Kim, shakes her head, as if to say: No, he hasn't looked at them, and I'm fairly certain he's about to ruin our family name.

"She's concerned because she knows my short term memory is crap," Burton explains. "I'm sure they don't have high expectations."

Besides, he adds, "What's the worst that could happen?"

"You'll never be asked to do this again," Kim says.

Sebastian Roche back on GH on April
Following his characters's death on 24, Roche is returning to GENERAL HOSPITAL on April 15.

RĂ©al Andrews auditions for OLTL
Andrews mentioned a ONE LIFE TO LIVE audition on his Twitter earlier today" "Going to New York with Son to audition for 'one life to live'". He tweeted about an audition for ARMY WIVES in early February.

EMPIRE STATE, which is being shot for CBS, will use a variety of urban settings around Rhode Island.

Steinberg hosting workshops and screenings at HPU
High Point University will host Roy Steinberg, longtime producer and director for GUIDING LIGHT and DAYS OF OUR LIVES on March 25-28 as part of the Media and Performance Symposium, a yearlong series designed to supplement the educational and artistic experiences of HPU students.
