News Round-up: Pilots Flee CA, ROCKVILLE, Craig Charles

TV biz flees California
Pilot season is all over the map this year as the majors squeeze budgets and chase production incentive coin throughout the country and up north in Toronto and Vancouver. Of the 39 hourlong pilots and presentations that have been ordered by the Big Four and CW, at least 20 are skedded to shoot outside California's borders.

Noah Gray-Cabey joins LIMELIGHT
Noah Gray-Cabey will get to show off his musical talents in ABC's drama LIMELIGHT. WBTV/Wonderland's LIMELIGHT is a soap about the teachers and the students at a New York performing-arts academy.

Craig Charles: 'I blew £250k on crack'
Craig Charles has revealed that he returned to using cocaine after a decade's break when he joined the cast of CORONATION STREET. The 44-year-old told The Guardian that he spent a quarter of a million pounds on the drug after moving to Manchester for filming of the soap.

"I hadn't touched cocaine for more than ten years. I just drifted back into it when I started to do CORONATION STREET," he said, blaming the death of his father and the bitterness he felt after being accused of rape in 1995 for turning to crack.

Colby student is finalist in modeling contest
Colby College student Danielle Sheppard, 19, of Kittery, is a finalist in the model search, a nation-wide call for people interested in pursuing a career in the modeling industry. The winner will receive, among other prizes, a trip to New York with free apartment accommodations, a photo spread on ElleGirl.com with an actor from CBS' GUIDING LIGHT, and a two-year modeling contract with Ikon New York Model Management.

Agim Kaba film coming out on DVD
Intermedia Artists is pleased to announce the DVD release date for Alessandro Di Gaetano’s romantic horror thriller The Band From Hell. The street date is slated for April 17, 2009 and will be available in video stores and at major retailers across the country.

The Band From Hell is a modern adaptation of classic werewolf lore and stars newcomer Michael Frascino, Heidi Johanningmeier, Agim Kaba (AS THE WORLD TURNS), Megin Pepin, Ryan Ross and Veronica Cartwright as Mrs. Belakov. ‘Screen Scream Princess’ Tiffany Shepis, also makes a rare cameo appearance.

ROCKVILLE CA launches at 9am ET
TheWB.com launches ROCKVILLE CA - a 20-episode, music-themed scripted digital series created by Josh Schwartz - on Tuesday, March 17, at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT, with the debut of the show's first four episodes. On ROCKVILLE CA, Schwartz shares executive producing duties with noted music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas. ROCKVILLE CA stars Andrew J. West (PRIVILEGED, GREEK), Alexandra Chando (AS THE WORLD TURNS), Jelly Howie, Ryan Hansen (upcoming untitled GOSSIP GIRL spinoff), Matt Cohen (SOUTH OF NOWHERE), Bonnie Burroughs, Lester Speight and Chris Yen.
