News Round-up: Anthony Cotton, Luke's Soap Box, RTS

10 Music Stars Who'd Make Great Soap Stars
"Daytime television continues to pull out the dramatic stops in order to keep afloat in the recession. But if DAYS OF OUR LIVES or ALL MY CHILDREN wants a bit of a buzzy boost that a fictional transsexual rock star just cannot provide, the producers should consider hiring one of these music stars, who all seem to have the soap opera mentality coursing through them."

Antony Cotton extends CORRIE contract
CORONATION STREET actor Antony Cotton has signed a new contract with the ITV soap which will see him on screen until at least July 2010. The 33-year-old, who plays camp Underworld knicker stitcher and Rovers barman Sean Tully, accepted the deal on Tuesday.

Luke's 'WORLD' turns from soap opera to soap box
Eric Hegedus writes: "A gay rights plotline is heating up for Luke (Van Hansis) and Noah (Jake Silbermann) on As the World Turns. The cute couple recently ran into a homophobic landlord, who in a not-so-subtle way declined to rent a one-bedroom apartment to the boys. And now Luke wants to use his foundation to battle discriminatory behavior and strengthen laws for the same. Kudos to ATWT for scripting this plot; I hope they delve into the topic much further. It could be the perfect vehicle for raising awareness one household at a time."

David Rasche cast on UGLY BETTY
Former ALL MY CHILDREN actor Rasche has been tapped to play the recurring role of Matt's Richard Branson-esque father, Cal Hartley.
