GL at Universal: The Audition Process

Matt Palm from the Orlando Sentinel (orlandosentinel.com) recounts his experience auditioning for GUIDING LIGHT on Saturday.

I actually "auditioned" to be an extra for GL's taping at Universal. It was an interesting experience -- mainly because even though the casting call said non-actors were welcome, there were an awful lot of folks with head shots and resumes who seemed rather professional. My friend and I waited about an hour and a half to be seen by the show's casting director. Judging by the length of the line, there were plenty of folks who waited 3 hours or more.

The actual audition, held inside the groove at CityWalk, was fun. Four at a time, we lined up and faced the camera, then answered questions from casting director Rob Decina. He asked me why I had come, and I said I was a fan. We briefly discussed one of my all-time favorite stories (from more than 20 years ago!). And I got to chit-chat with actor Murray Bartlett, who plays GL scoundrel Cyrus. All in all, a fun experience.

GUIDING LIGHT will be taping shows at Universal Orlando Resort all week.
