Here are some classic scene and moments in the career of the late Phil Carey.
OPERATION PACIFIC: The trailer for Carey's very first film, in which he starred with John Wayne.
CALAMITY JANE: In 1953, Carey appeared in this musical with Doris Day. In this clip, Carey and the cast sing "Black Hills of Dakota."
PUSHOVER: Carey played Rick McAllister in this 1954 film from Columbia Pictures. He starred along with Fred MacMurray and Kim Novak.
LAREDO: Carey, going by Philip instead of Phil, played Captain Parmalee on this western series from 1963 to 1965.
ALL IN THE FAMILY: In an episode from 1971, Mike and Gloria's friend Roger stopped by and Archie immediately labeled him as gay. But it turned out that Archie's old bar buddy, Steve (played by Carey), was the one who was actually gay.
ONE LIFE TO LIVE: When Megan was dying, Asa gave her a history of all his wives.
The are thousands of clips on YouTube of Carey as Asa Buchanan so check them out if you get the chance.
Thank you for this. I see two "Pushover" clips, but no Calamity Jane. But this is awesome.
ReplyDeleteProving, once again, that WLS is the best soap portal of the new media revolution....
Thanks for letting me know and thanks for the compliment. That Calamity Jane clip is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI've always appreciated (and loved) Phil's appearance on ALL IN THE FAMILY. Not only did the episode break new ground by turning stereotypes on their head, it was just plain funny, too. Oh, and the episode also featured GH's Tony Geary as Roger.
ReplyDeleteRest in peace, Mr. Carey. I can't believe you're gone.
Plum, I love that episode too. The first few years of that show were just superb and addressed so many social issues of the time bringing them into the homes of people who might not be discussing otherwise.
