FLASHBACK: Brenda Dickson to ABC & More 1987

ABC IS RESTLESS OVER RUMOR OF ACTRESS DICKSON'S RETURN

Daily News of Los Angeles (CA)
December 6, 1987

ABC and Brenda Dickson deny reports that Dickson (the former Jill on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS) is joining ONE LIFE TO LIVE. According to a top network source, "She may have talked with the show, but she has not been signed at present and we have no plans to sign her. The proposed story line mentioned in some articles is not even correct." While Brenda may not be joining ONE LIFE TO LIVE, judging from our mail, viewers would like to see her on the daytime screen.

One rumor that has panned out is the return of Chris Robinson to afternoon TV. He will be on ANOTHER WORLD.

Robinson played Rick Webber on GENERAL HOSPITAL for nearly 10 years. He began taping on the new show the first week of December. He has taken two of his sons to New York, while his wife and their youngest child remain in California due to her work.

"This is the first time I will have lived in New York. I think it will be exciting for the boys. While a commuting relationship is tough for Leslie and me, right now that is the way it will have to be."

Robinson will be playing a Frame brother. Newer viewers should know that Steven Frame and his siblings were once the driving force of Bay City - the locale for ANOTHER WORLD. Robinson will be playing Jason Frame, a brother of the late Steven, who wants to run the family construction company. According to Robinson.

"I really liked the part. The character will not be a goody two-shoes, he will not be evil, but he will make things happen."

At the end of Rick Webber's run, the character had become boring. Would Robinson have returned to "General Hospital"? "They never asked. When I left it was because they wanted me to take a cut in pay or be guaranteed fewer work days per week. It was something they asked of several cast members, but I was not willing to do it."

Security has been tightened on the GENERAL HOSPITAL set following recent thefts. According to Los Angeles police reports, actress Kristina Malandro (Felicia) had her wallet stolen, and director Marlena Laird had a check for megabucks lifted. The theft slowed down the day's taping, causing the actors to put in a nearly 20-hour day, instead of the usual 12.

Rumors continue to fly about Tristan Rogers' exiting GH by the end of the year. ABC will neither confirm nor deny his departure, but a source close to Rogers, whose portrayal of Robert Scorpio has always been a ratings boost, states that as far as he knows, Rogers' last tape date is "Dec. 22, and he plans a trip to Australia the following day. However if GENERAL HOSPITAL is willing to give Rogers what he wants, he might return."

Simple translation: Rogers most likely wants more money and more time off
from the show to pursue other interests.
