News Round-up

INTERVIEW: ALL MY CHILDREN's Aiden Turner (Aidan)
"I like the fact that [Aidan] is highly trained in aikido and martial arts, and he’s weapon trained. I love that he’s got a military background. I really respect what our troops in England and what American troops are doing today in the world and fighting the war against terror, and to know that my character is a part of that makes me feel good."

TV role's all too real to Iraq war vet J.R. Martinez
He has millions of fans, but J.R. Martinez is humble about his newfound fame. And he doesn't want sympathy.

"I was a guy who was injured in the war," he said. "Who's to say no one else could do it? You don't know what you're capable of until you're faced with it. I think a lot of troops feel that way."

Fergie and Josh Duhamel got married in Malibu
The Black Eyed Peas singer, Fergie (whose real name is Stacy Ann Ferguson), is officially married to former ALL MY CHILDREN hunk Josh Duhamel. They were married Saturday under magnolia trees filled with thousands of white roses, PEOPLE reports.

Laura Bell Bundy to join "Legally Blonde" Tour as temporary replacement
Former GUIDING LIGHT actress Laura Bell Bundy (ex-Marah) will be briefly returning to the role of Elle Woods, taking over the part on tour, temporarily replacing Becky Gulsvig who has broken a toe. Bundy (now a Nashville, TN resident) is currently flying to Washington, DC, the tour's current stop through tomorrow and will begin performances on January 13, 2009 in East Lansing, Michigan, the tour's next stop. The length of her stay has not yet been revealed but it's noted that Bundy is to be a Miss America judge on January 24, 2009.

Nathan Fillion "gets" fandom
One of the hallmarks of devoted sci-fi fandom is allowing a fantastic story to become your reality. So Nathan Fillion, who played Captain Malcolm Reynolds on FIREFLY, endeared himself to me forever when he started making posts to internet fan forums and signing them "The Cap'n."

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS returns as bright spot in NBC lineup
FNL has certainly proven to be worth the wait in the past and that's more true this season, which is far superior to season two.

Get set for TV with 9 shows to watch for in '09
When it comes to midseason TV, this year's new and returning shows are a decidedly mixed lot. Some look like sure bets (welcome back, Joss Whedon!), while others seem doomed from the start (does America really need more Howie Mandel?). Some are coming back with a roar (its fans can't wait to find LOST all over again), while others seem like they're limping to the finish line (does anyone even notice that FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS is returning to prime time?).
