Image Awards Nominations Announced


The NAACP has revealed the nominees for its 40th annual Image Awards. Nate Parker, KeKe Palmer, Regina Taylor and Corbin Blue were on hand for the announcement.

ABC led all networks at the NAACP Image Awards with a total of 24 nominations. CBS followed with 14 noms, while the CW and NBC scored 10 each. Y&R leads the daytime soaps with four nominations.

The awards will be handed out on Feb. 12.

The nominees are as follows:

Actor in a Daytime Drama Series
Bryton McClure - THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS (CBS)
Cornelius Smith, Jr. - ALL MY CHILDREN (ABC)
Dan Martin - THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL (CBS)
Montel Williams - GUIDING LIGHT (CBS)
Texas Battle - THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL (CBS)

Actress in a Daytime Drama Series
Christel Khalil - THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL (CBS)
Debbi Morgan - ALL MY CHILDREN (ABC)
Eva Marcille - THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS (CBS)
Nia Peeples - THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS (CBS)
Tonya Lee Williams - THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS (CBS)

In the TV comedy categories, other soapy nominees include GREEK's Paul James (Actor in a Comedy Series), UGLY BETTY's America Ferrera (Actress in a Comedy Series) and Vanessa Williams (Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series). UGLY BETTY was nominated for best Comedy Series as well.

GREY'S ANATOMY is among the nominees for best Drama Series. Other drama nominees include GREY'S Chandra Wilson (Actress in a Drama Series) and James Pickens, Jr. (Supporting Actor in a Drama Series), DIRTY SEXY MONEY's Blair Underwood (Supporting Actor in a Drama Series), and PRIVATE PRACTICE's Taye Diggs (Supporting Actor in a Drama Series) and S. Epatha Merkerson (Supporting Actress in a Drama Series).
