Romance! Betrayal! Wildlife attacks! Univision's deliciously soapy telenovas have it all - including more viewers than mainstream shows like GOSSIP GIRL.
This new Entertainment Weekly (issue dated January 16) has a five page spread on telenovas titled, "Bold, Beautiful & Totally Bizarre." Vanessa Juarez covers the background, the current shows and throws in references to GENERAL HOSPITAL and DAYS OF OUR LIVES along the way.
The main focus of the article is Univision's CUIDADO CON EL ANGEL (Beware of the Angel). Juarez talks about their "shocktastic rehearsal," the tiny writing staff of two and the lawsuit the show is currently embroiled in.
When talking about CUIDADO's shooting schedule, the article mentions the days are so hectic there is no time for the actors to learn dialgoue so they have their lines electronically fed to them during each scene.
