News Brief

The 12 Best TV Theme Songs from Current Shows
Paste Magazine names their top 12 which includes:
12. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS - "Your Hand in Mine" by Explosions in the Sky
The first clue that this high school football drama isn't just for the booster-club set is the theme music by Explosions in the Sky. Small-town drama + Mogwai-influenced post-rock = worth a second look.

10. LIPSTICK JUNGLE - "The Bomb" by Bitter:Sweet
I have no idea if this show is any good (I'm guessing no), but the theme song by Bitter:Sweet swings. The L.A. trip-hop duo mixes jazz horns with tropic beats. The lyrics may be as vapid as the show, but the double-bass riff will stick in your head.

PATRICK ERWIN: In context
"...when I watched the Todd/Marty lovemaking scenes last week [on ONE LIFE TO LIVE], it disturbed me so much I actually got sick. As in, vomited. If I as a part-time viewer am having that reaction, I can’t imagine what other people think or feel."

BBC iPlayer to go international
There is such a thing as being too successful and that could be applied to the BBC iPlayer, which has seen huge growth since its introduction last Christmas. This just goes to show that the investment that the BBC has been making in online entertainment is fully justified, especially as there have been almost two hundred and fifty million pieces of content used since the official launch.

The success of the iPlayer has prompted a call for it to go international; this would put BBC content in front of a much wider audience and therefore create further opportunities for the BBC to expand on a global scale. It is still early days and the actual demographics are not yet known, but by taking an average EASTENDERS episode, that will get around eighteen million viewers, while on the iPlayer the figure is more like half a million.

Former ATWT star Jordana Brewster on CHUCK tonight
Brewster (ex-Nikki Munson on AS THE WORLD TURNS) will play Chuck's former girlfriend Jill.
