Spotlight: Alan Carter

A few people have emailed me asking who Alan Carter is. Carter's name has been a hot item in the soap world these past few days thanks the now infamous Jossip post on Carolyn Hinsey being fired.

Here's a bio from KCAL.com:
Veteran journalist and writer Alan Carter joined the CBS 2/KCAL 9 web team in October 2005.

Prior to working for the duopoly, Alan was a staff writer and reporter/correspondent/columnist/critic for many magazines and newspapers including Entertainment Weekly, People, TV Guide, Soap Opera Digest (where he was also Los Angeles bureau chief) and the New York Daily News. Alan was also one of the first on-air reporters hired for the syndicated show "Extra."

Alan also has extensive freelance magazine and on line credits including CBS' WATCH!, TV Guide, EW.com, Trivialpursuit.com, Essence, Vibe, USA Weekend, Television Week, Emmy, Redbook and the Philadelphia Enquirer, to name just a few.

Alan has also been a TV writer with credits on "The Soap Opera Awards" (five times for NBC and dick clark productions), a variety of clip shows for Soap Net and Fox, and "Guiding Light Turns 60!" for CBS Radio. Alan has also co-authored a book on TV's "The Real World."

Also in TV, Alan has been a freelance segment producer on several shows, most notably "TV's 100 Most Memorable Moments", a co-production from TV Land and TV Guide, and CBS' "The Early Show." And Alan has been on the other side of the camera as a talking head interview subject for "Inside Edition" and a host of other syndicated talk and magazine shows.

Born in New York, Alan has loyalties to both the Dodgers and the Mets and cheers for each team -- when they aren't playing each other.

Alan lives in Sherman Oaks with a disobedient wire fox terrier named Puppi.
