Democrats watch SOAPnet
Democratic delegates are meeting in Denver this week to formally nominate their next presidential candidate, but the party already has cast its vote in favor of Madison Avenue. That's the conclusion of a comprehensive analysis of the different demographic, lifestyle, and perhaps most significantly, the media habits and advertising attitudes separating registered members of the DNC and their rivals in the Grand Old Party. As it turns out, it's not so grand for advertisers and agencies seeking to reach and sway Republican voters, according to findings of the study by Universal McCann.
When it comes to their TV viewing preferences, the highest indexing cable network among Republicans are Fox News Channel, the Military Channel, and The Golf Channel. Among Democrats, they are BET, SOAPnet, and Bravo.
Daytime for McCain?
John McCain, who has pulled even with Barack Obama due in part to his very effective attacks on Obama's "celebrity," spent last night collecting checks from Hollywood stars or people who once might have fit that description.
Among those attending: Lorenzo Lamas (THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL); Lacy Chabert (ALL MY CHILDREN); Dean Cain (LOIS & CLARK); James Caan (The Godfather); Jon Voight (Deliverance); Robert Davi (License to Kill); Lou Ferrigno (THE INCREDIBLE HULK); Adam Carolla (THE MAN SHOW); Angie Harmon (LAW & ORDER); Victoria Jackson (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE); Gerald McRaney (MAJOR DAD); Jon Cryer (TWO AND A HALF MEN); Kevin Sorbo (HERCULES; SANATA BARBARA); Patricia Heaton (EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND); George Newbern (REUNION); and Robert Duvall (Apocalypse Now). The dinner co-chairman was Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of popular television shows such as CSI, COLD CASE, and WITHOUT A TRACE, and films such as Pirates of the Caribbean.
Inside B&B's Grizzly Twist
Watch out, she's off her meds again. Pam Douglas, the hilarious, bipolar baddie played by Alley Mills on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, is about to take her villainy one step too far. On August 28–29, she follows her archenemy, Donna (Jennifer Gareis), up to the Forresters' mountain cabin, where Donna makes the mistake of mocking Pam's famous lemon bars and telling her she's off her rocker. Deeply hurt and outraged, Pam knocks her out, ties her up, douses her with honey and leaves her to be killed by a bear.
