News Brief

ALL MY CHILDREN casino guy Zach puts chips on the table
From Carolyn Hinsey's weekly New York Daily News column: ALL MY CHILDREN fans finally get the moment they've been waiting for next week when Zach lays down the law to Kendall about their marriage.

"He takes her away to a beach house and confronts her," says Thorsten Kaye, who plays the wealthy casino owner. "Of course, she turns it around: 'You're the one who always walks away!' That's not true. Zach is just trying to be a family man. That's a new thing for him. But Kendall is all, 'Ryan this, Aidan that,' and that is not working for Zach."

In fact, the more Kendall brings up her former lovers, the angrier Zach gets.

Lucci to go on DANCING?
Though the official cast of "Dancing With the Stars" season 7 won't be announced until August 25, the alleged list has been leaked out. According to Gossip Sauce, the hit ballroom reality series will include ALL MY CHILDREN star Susan Lucci.

PREVIEW: Restless Nikki Starts Nipping Again
Michael Logan of TV Guide reports: Melody Thomas Scott of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS is giving the single greatest performance in soaps these days and, word is, we ain't seen nothing yet.

This week, her sob-queen character, Nikki, will hit the bottle down in Mexico when she thinks her ex-hubby Victor (Eric Braeden) has died in a boat crash. Great news for us Nikki nuts (we love to see her suffer!), but bad for Nikki, who's been a recovering alcoholic since the early '90s.

"When Nikki isn't drowning her sorrows in the local cantina and drunk-dialing Katherine, she's staggering along the beach hoping for some sign of Victor," Scott says. "He finally turns up and we have scenes that are very Scarlett and Rhett, and I don't mean that in a romantic way but in the true sickness that was Scarlett and Rhett. It's really good stuff — like classic Y&R from 20 years ago."

Ayesha Dharker roped in to add 'colour' to "too white" Brit soap CORRIE
CORONATION STREET bosses have roped in Indian beauty Ayesha Dharker after they were accused of being "too white". A few weeks ago, a study by equality chief Trevor Phillips blasted soaps for showing only black and Asian stereotypes.

The 31-year-old Dharkar, who starred in Star Wars Episode II, will appear on the ITV1 soap in October playing Tara Mandal.

"We really want Ayesha to become a favourite with viewers," The Sun quoted an insider, as saying.

Is Danny Baldwin returning to CORRIE?
News that Bradley Walsh has been signed up to present a new ITV game show comes as a surprise to CORONATION STREET fans who were expecting the return of Danny Baldwin this summer.
