Soap writer Courtney Bugler writes cancer blog
Former ALL MY CHILDREN script writer Courtney Bugler began writing a blog, "Biography of Breast Cancer"after being diagnosed at the age of 29. In it she shares her cancer stories with humor, once comparing a nervous breakdown in the shower to "Tori Spelling in a Lifetime movie."
"I realized about four or five months into it that I had become part of this greater blogging community," said Bugler. She continues to be part of that community, not only in her day job with an advocacy group for young breast cancer patients, but in blog posts to new breast cancer patients.
"It's not that I'm stuck in the past and I'm not willing to move on," she said. "I've just come to accept that breast cancer in some way, shape, or form, will always be a part of my everyday life."
PATRICK ERWIN: What daytime should steal from primetime
"One obvious trend in daytime that emerged in the late 70s and early 80s was the habit of stealing storyline ideas from prime time television. As shows expanded (to an hour) and tried different themes and characters, daytime borrowed some stories from nighttime and tried them on for size."

Ratcliff designs for DAYS' Sweeney
Jerilynn Ratcliff, a 40-something homemaker with the "sewing skills to knock off an Oscar de la Renta dress for her daughter's prom," appears on Friday's premiere episode of TLC's new fashion design series, WHO ARE YOU WEARING?
The premise of the show is having real people create an outfit for a Hollywood celebrity to wear on the red carpet - the name of the series is taken from the most frequently asked question during the strut-your-stuff portion of awards shows.
Each week, four wannabe designers vie to create a look for different celebrities by talking through style preferences and where and when the outfit will be worn. The designers make the clothes and the star chooses one of the designs to wear to a red carpet event. Ratcliff designed for actress Alison Sweeney of DAYS OF OUR LIVES.
GL loves their Canon XH G1 and XL H1 HD camcorders
Chosen for reasons of creativity and practicality, the compact size and low-light capabilities of the Canon XH G1 and XL H1 HD camcorders enable the producers to shoot in real locations - public parks, private homes, and local streets - in a suburban New Jersey town for a you-are-there "reality television" look that helps engage viewers and reinforces the believability of the environments depicted onscreen. Even the show's Manhattan production offices double as sets. Both the Canon XH G1 and XL H1 HD camcorders feature Canon's Optical Image Stabilization feature, which is an added benefit, given the show's hand-held production esthetic.
