News Brief

TV Guide Canada: Exclusive: “Nuke” speak at GLAAD Awards! Martha Madison update! Jeffrey marries Olivia on ‘GL’! Cady McClain back on ‘AMC’!

Soap Opera Weekly: Cady McClain makes a return visit to ALL MY CHILDREN.

Gold Derby: GLAAD should rescind its award to 'ATWT' — and apologize.

AfterElton: Response from Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann: "We were honored to have been asked to appear at the GLAAD Media Awards on Monday night. As actors, it is such a privilege to be part of this important evening. It was our choice not to kiss each other on the red carpet. While we love and support the characters we play, we attended the Award show as actors, not characters."

New York Daily News: Monica's son Jason has bad news for her today on GENERAL HOSPITAL: He knows she is the one who hit Sam. "There were surveillance tapes, so he confronts her with that," says Leslie Charleson, who plays the hit-and-runner. "Monica is not at all receptive." Indeed, she tries to lie her way out of it. "She makes a feeble attempt," says Charleson, "but Jason says if she doesn't admit it, then he's turning her in to the police."

Marlena De Lacroix: THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: How Latham Tried But Failed to Reinvent the Wheel.

AfterElton: Michael Jenson writes: [AS THE WORLD TURNS] was honored as Outstanding Daily Drama at the GLAAD Media Awards, something that more than a few of our readers were not happy about. And it wasn't just folks here. Said the Los Angeles Times' Tom O'Neil who writes The Gold Derby blog, "How queer! An organization devoted to battling prejudice against gays in the media honored a TV soap that blatantly discriminates against homosexual love!" Oh, puh-leeze. I guess the daytime award should have gone to, well, I suppose Passions with their downlow storyline about gay men cheating on their wives and being abusive to each other.

1 comment:

  1. Maybe Passions is just more authentic, oddly enough. Their gay relationship is an affair at best, an already dysfunctional pairing. I've never read about the men involved being denied displays of affection, but ATWT would deserve its criticism either way. Perhaps the GLAAD award was just for visibility.
