News Brief

TV Guide Canada: Nelson Branco's Suds Report: Is Lauralee Bell returning to ‘Y&R’? Carly miscarries on ‘GH’! ‘OLTL’s Kristen Alderson on sick leave! Plus: More Nathaniel Marston controversy!

New York Daily News: Martha Byrne's last tape day on AS THE WORLD TURNS is today, to be followed by what is sure to be a memorable goodbye party with cast and crew at a Manhattan restaurant. Her immediate plans include spending time with her family (retired NYPD Sgt. Michael McMahon and their three kids Michael, Maxwell and Annmarie) and hosting a live chat on her Web site (www.marthabyrne.net ) Sunday night at 7, when, she promises, "all your questions will be answered."

"A door has been closed, but I have always found"it"to be"true that another one soon opens," Byrne said. Watch this space for her next gig - and for the name of the new actress hired to play Lily.

TV Guide: Parker Posey, the indie-film darling and Christopher Guest stock-company perennial, is at last on television, starring in her very own sitcom, THE RETURN OF JEZEBEL JAMES (Fridays at 8:30 pm/ET, Fox; premiering tonight at 8 pm/ET). Created by GILMORE GIRLS' Amy Sherman-Palladino, the show's about a single, workaholic children's-book editor who wants a kid of her own as she feels her biological clock ticking. Parker, it seems, can relate. "I am an employed actor, do you know how hard that is? You know how rare it is to be a working actor, to be able to work in different mediums? I mean, I did Superman [Returns]; I played a vampire in Blade III [Trinity]; I did a damn soap opera [As the World Turns]! And I've acted in independent movies made for $200,000. I'm really grateful for having a career as diverse and interesting as I would have liked and what I intended."

FOX News: Snoop Dogg is bringing some street cred to ONE LIFE TO LIVE. The 36-year-old rapper will make an extended cameo on the ABC soap opera to perform two songs from his new album, "Ego Trippin'," at the Ultra Violet club in the town of Llanview, the network said Thursday. Snoop's episodes will air May 8 and May 9, and feature his re-mixed version of the show's theme song. He will also act in scenes. "I've been a fan of `One Life to Live' since I was a baby," said Snoop, who's set to perform "Sensual Seduction" and "Life of Da Party. My momma always had it on the tube in tha crib growing up. The opportunity to change up the theme song and give it some of my flavor will make the show the Life of The Party."

BlackNews: A funny, moving romantic drama about the power of love and family, Lionsgate’s Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns marks another winning portrayal of life by producer/writer/director/actor Tyler Perry. The film features a return to the big screen by Perry’s beloved comic creation, the indomitable and outrageous Southern matriarch Madea. Lamman Rucker, formerly of AS THE WORLD TURNS and ALL MY CHILDREN is one of the stars.

Southern Voice: AS THE WORLD TURNS Luke and Noah make the cover of the March 7th edition.

CarbWire: Former NFL All-Pro and part-time GUIDING LIGHT star Mark Schlereth talks about his post-NFL diet and exercise regimen, the struggle he had maintaining the weight requirements placed on him by constantly eating, how he has transitioned his life to focus more on his television career and family, and his ideas for some non-football books that he's been working on.

WFAA: EVENT: His only true love has been brutally murdered. And now Prince Nikolas Cassadine wants justice for his late fiancée, Emily Quartermaine. Such is the current predicament of the fictitious Greek prince on GENERAL HOSPITAL. You can meet the man who plays the part of Prince Nikolas, Tyler Christopher, at a fan club meet-and-greet Saturday at the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Centre hotel. The $65 admission charge will benefit one of Mr. Christopher's real-life theatrical efforts, the 68 Cent Crew theater company (www.theater68.com) in Hollywood. "Anybody who knows Los Angeles knows that theaters are hard to keep afloat. We really have to put it out there to get people to come," Mr. Christopher says from his home in Studio City, Calif.

Monterey County Herald: A beverage marketer known for pouring money into splashy ads in the traditional media is taking an unconventional approach with a new product. In addition to providing samples to employees of companies like Apple, Bliss Spa, Google and MTV, Pepsi-Cola is giving away Tava at events like the Sundance Film Festival and to customers of businesses like Frank's Chop Shop, a barbershop on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. It will also offer the beverage to arts lovers at plays, concerts and festivals, and to celebrities at locations like the set of the TV soap opera GENERAL HOSPITAL.

Liverpool Echo: Soap stars from CORONATION STREET, HOLLYOAKS and EMMERDALE were out in force as Liverpool became the capital of couture. Some of the nation’s most famous faces spent the day getting glammed up for Liverpool Fashion Week at a pampering suite at the city’s Hard Day’s Night Hotel.
