News Brief

TV Guide Canada: Behind the scenes at the fourth annual ABC Daytime Salutes Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Soaps.com: There has been much anticipation surrounding a certain casting call for a new ONE LIFE TO LIVE character said to be named Quinn - a Navy Seal. Although we can't be sure if this casting news we are about to present you with is for a character who was originally one in the same, an ABC Rep has confirmed that Michael Lawson has been given a role for a new character named Brody!

Palisadian-Post: "What the hell ever possessed you to give me this honor?" actor Robert Guillaume facetiously asked Pacific Palisades Film Festival founder Bob Sharka last Thursday, following a highlight reel from Guillaume's esteemed entertainment career, including scenes from SOAP and BENSON. Also spotted at the function: Palisades actor Eric Braeden of the long-running THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, which last week set a television industry record by achieving its 1,000th time at the top of the Nielsen ratings.

MyParkMag: EASTENDERS star Gemma Bissix has confessed she was suspended from school when she first left the hit soap. The 24-year-old actress - who returned to The Square as Clare Bates, after a nine-year break - dyed her hair pink as a way of rebelling. She said: "I first left when I was 15 and I wanted to revel. So the first thing I did was dye my hair pink. I got suspended from school for that!"

BCEFA: VIDEO: GENERAL HOSPITAL's Bradford Anderson Sings to Georgie at the Broadway Cares event on March 2nd.

Stamford Plus Magazine: Westport Arts Center and Pequot Library will co-present "Johnny Mercer Broadway Songbook," featuring the music of composer and lyricist Johnny Mercer, on Sunday, April 6. The program is created by Westporters Max Wilk and Susan Terry. Westport's Susan Terry made her Broadway debut in the original Broadway cast of "Evita." Her favorite role to date is as the Prison Matron on ALL MY CHILDREN.

Press Association: Peter Polycarpou became a familiar face as Sharon's no-good husband Chris in BIRDS OF A FEATHER. That show's been off our screens for a few years now, but he's rarely been out of work since. He has appeared in several soaps, including playing CASUALTY, EASTENDERS and THE BILL. In a few weeks, Peter pays a return visit to BBC One's HOLBY CITY.

Most Beautiful Man: Luke and Noah fans’s “Kiss Campaign” on AS THE WORLD TURNS.

Palisadian-Post: You might say that these days, actress Cindy Ambuehl (fiance of Y&R star Don Diamont) is "keepin' it real" as in "real estate." Ambuehl, who starred as Renee Peterson on the long-running CBS primetime series JAG, has turned her real estate hobby into a full-time profession by joining Coldwell Banker's Pacific Palisades office on Sunset. Ambuehl and Diamont socialize with another Palisadian on Y&R, Eric Braeden, who enjoys the Palisades life with his wife, Dale.
