EastEnders star Pam St Clement has advised younger cast members to create a buzz around the show by welcoming press attention.
The 65-year-old actress, who plays Pat Evans, explained that she wants the current cast to follow Jessie Wallace's example. Pam admitted that press pictures of Jessie falling out of clubs during her time on the show turned out to be an excellent way of maintaining the public's interest.
"When Jessie was in the show, pictures of her at clubs helped to fuel the Kat character and it never did her any harm because she's such a talented actress," Pam told The People.
"We get a hard time from the press and although I think it's great that we now have a very professional cast who don't fall out of clubs at 3am and don't believe their own publicity, the papers love that kind of thing.
"I tell you if I was young and 19 and coming into it then I might be going out raving. As long as it doesn't ruin their lives then I think the younger ones should do it. As long as they don't do it at the cost of their work. Then I would have something to say."
