Enders' star nearly gave up on acting dream

EastEnders star Babita Pohoomull considered giving up on her dream of acting before she joined the soap.

The actress, who plays Preeti on the show, was tired of being constantly rejected when she auditioned for roles - but a call from the BBC soap changed everything.

"I had a habit of falling in love with jobs and not getting them," Babita told The People. "I found rejection really difficult to deal with because I would get close and really want it. Then they would turn round and say 'oh you are too short' or too light or too dark or whatever.

"It is like being broken-hearted which is the worst thing ever. I cried a lot and I dealt with it really badly. It was a double whammy. The call from EastEnders came at the perfect time, I was thinking of giving up on the whole thing."
