Actor Bill Roache, famous for his role as Ken Barlow in Coronation Street, has revealed that he was once chatted up by a gay film director.
According to the Daily Mirror, when Bill was a struggling young thespian, the late Brian Hurst tried to shamelessly seduce him by saying at an audition: "Once more thing - I'd like to sleep with you!"
Bill politely declined the offer but still got a small part in 1958 film Behind the Mask, his very first film role.
He says, "I felt I'd made it as an actor because I'd been propositioned."
Bill is the only surviving member of the original Corrie cast. The soap first aired in December 1960.
