Is that true? Has she got some OLTL episodes?? Thank you very much for your answer and for giving us these great pieces of OLTL historyFranciscohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11897260319292474243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2585163331194032530.post-82768346075350555502013-09-28T20:24:52.057-04:002013-09-28T20:24:52.057-04:00the highlighted ratings posted in the article are ...the highlighted ratings posted in the article are very clear on the date and time of 6/20/80. how could kathy glass possibly snarl, 'I bet you think you're responsible for this?' she was already long gone. She is still one of my all-time favorite actresses and I am so glad she decided to share her story. It is one we all need to hear.

When I read her autobiography many years ago (in which she addressed many of these same themes, in particular The Producer), I was so moved that I wrote to her. I don't know if she ever received my letter but I had to thank her for being so willing to tell her story.

I still feel the same way. I only point out that sometimes people will latch on to the "inaccuracies" as a way to discount the message.woodstockdadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18257804786232069087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2585163331194032530.post-73422340509541147752012-03-05T14:02:38.464-05:002012-03-05T14:02:38.464-05:00I found in speaking with Ms. Holly for several hou...I found in speaking with Ms. Holly for several hours that she went out of her way to not say people's names in many cases. I don't think her intent was to ever make her story about any of these actresses or actors, just to shed light on the greater problem that existed (and still does). In her 80s now I'm amazed at how much she recalls. I knew she was a great actress but had no idea how intelligent she was. She's actually quite the historian. I totally understand the points made, and they are valid, I just have a different take on it and took her words for what I perceive to be the overall message. We can pick apart factual inaccuracies in things people say, but the overall truth doesn't change. I don't think I've read an autobiography yet that didn't get some names and dates wrong. It doesn't make the author a liar or make everything they're saying false or with ill intention, but more of an honest mistake. It would cause a defense attorney to cast doubt on a case for sure, but I guess that's where we all differ, I don't look at this as a trial. Our goal was to open up the discussion of racism on soaps and the lack of diversity that has always existed versus picking apart her story. This tends to happen though. With Victoria Rowell, for example, she tells a lot of truths people don't want to hear but because of the way she delivers it at times via Twitter, people overlook the actual message. Other actors keep their thoughts off the record just to avoid the backlash so I applaud those who stand up and tell their stories.Roger Newcombhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17605713149480918249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2585163331194032530.post-77718220494558025742012-03-05T10:49:40.718-05:002012-03-05T10:49:40.718-05:00I have to agree with Dale, here. I watched her from the very early days of "One Life to Live" and I was VERY upset when she was written out of the show (and I loated Jack Scott!). I read Miss Holly's autobiography and loved it too! And I am MORE than sure that The Producer in question probably treated her just as she describes.

Where I get confused is her characterization of the white actresses on the show as unsupportive of her. As Dale pointed out, Kathy Glass had been gone for years by the time the ratings in the article occurred. Further, in several other venues, including "We Love Soaps," Miss Holly paints Erika Slezak as celebrating the "decolorization" of "One Life to Live" in an interview, when, in fact, Miss Holly always takes the quotes from Ms. Slezak out of context. Ms. Slezak was LAMENTING THE LOSS of color and diversity on "One Life to Live," not celebrating it as Miss Holly implies.

I LOVE Miss Holly, and her talent is almost luminous. I started watching "The Guiding Light" when she was on BECAUSE she was on, and I missed her on "One Life to Live" so much. So I wish she would be more careful in her accusations against the white actresses on the show, because it calls into question her entire story.woodstockdadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18257804786232069087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2585163331194032530.post-71911724553013113142012-03-04T14:24:58.676-05:002012-03-04T14:24:58.676-05:00If you were Katherine Glass, you might not feel so...If you were Katherine Glass, you might not feel so amiable to your name being attached to a story such as this that cannot be true given that the dates that Ms. Holly has provided. Given the volatile nature of Ms. Holly's comments and recollections, she is accountable to ensure that she gets the names, facts and dates right if she is going to continue this bitter rampage. Frankly, it is getting old, and the fact that Ms. Holly continuously subjected herself to what she describes for years on end makes her seem more a willing victim rather then a survivor. My comments and view points on Ms. Holly's story have nothing to do with race or prejudice. I enjoyed her portrayal of Carla. I was sorry to see her leave the OLTL both times. I disagree with both agentprovacateur and zyxwvuts - if Ms. Holly is going to continue with this, she darn well better get her facts straight. If Ms. Holly cannot get the names and dates right, then it casts doubt over the rest of her charges, IMO.Dalehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15606814397011141528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2585163331194032530.post-13878907422823838702012-03-03T16:22:07.360-05:002012-03-03T16:22:07.360-05:00I agree with the comment above.
