1968: The Doctors' Liz was on a ledge, and on the news.
1977: David Hasselhoff performed the Y&R theme song on Merv.
1995: OLTL's Viki had an emotional confrontation with Dorian.
2006: GH's Port Charles faced an encephalitis outbreak.

On this date in...

1955: On The Road of Life, Sybil Overton (Barbara Becker) became upset when the bank called with news her account was overdrawn. Sybil's father, Conrad Overton (Charles Dingle), later asked attorney Byron Unger if his daughter had a claim on the estate.



1967: On Another World, Lee squirmed when John told Mike (Gary Pillar) he could always come back to work for him if things don't work out. This was Pillar's final appearance on Another World as Mike. The character would later return to Springfield and The Guiding Light played by Robert Pickering, then Don Stewart. Pillar (now using his birth name Gary Carpenter) returned to Another World in 1977 replacing Ted Shackelford in the role of Ray Gordon.

1968: On The Doctors, Carolee (Carolee Campbell) and other staff at Hope Memorial watched the televised spectacle of police trying to rescue Liz Wilson (Pamela Toll) from a hotel ledge. A reporter (Bernard Barrow) was also on the scene.

1977: While appearing as a guest on The Merv Griffin Show David Hasselhoff, who was then starring as Snapper Foster on The Young and the Restless, launched his new singing career with his rendition of the Y&R theme song.

1979: On Ryan's Hope, Kenneth (Ty McConnell) overheard Jill telling Pat that Faith (Faith Catlin) was missing. Later, Kenneth foiled Faith's escape attempt.



1987: On Santa Barbara, Pearl "married" Cruz (A Martinez) and Eden (Marcy Walker) on The Orient Express.



1993: As the World Turns used "The World Turns On and On" theme, composed by Jack C. Cortner, for the final time.

1993: Renee Jones made her first appearance as Lexie Carver in Days of our Lives. Also debuting that day was Thyme Lewis as Jonah Carver.

1995: On One Life to Live, Dorian (Robin Strasser) and Viki (Erika Slezak) had an emotional confrontation over the past misdeeds of Victor Lord.



1998: On Guiding Light, Vanessa (Maeve Kinkead) gave birth to Maureen Bauer Reardon.

1998: Australian soap Breakers premiered. It ran for a year on Network Ten.

2006: Elena Goode made her first appearance in As the World Turns as Jade Taylor.

2006: On General Hospital, Robert (Tristan Rogers) told Luke (Anthony) that Port Charles faced a highly contagious mutant strain of encephalitis.
