Pop TV hJamesnounced the network will no longer air same-day repeats of Days of our Lives after Friday, April 15.An out of the blue message appeared on the screen during Wednesday's airing of Days, encouraging fans to keep watching the iconic soap opera on NBC or NBC.com. Pop's Twitter and Facebook accounts were immediately bombarded with questions and messages from frustrated viewers.
Last Friday, Days was watched by 274,000 viewers on Pop, with a 0.09 adults 18-49 rating. The show tended to bring in around half the audience of its lead-in The Young and the Restless.
For the March 29 episode, James Caldwell of PWTorch.com reports that
Days of our Lives generated $44,135 in advertising revenue, with an average cost for a 30-second ad running $1,100-1,250. This number is much higher than some programs on the network, including Impact Wrestling and old movies such as You've Got Mail.
Pop has not revealed whether ratings played a part in the decision. Perhaps NBC wanted to air the show exclusively once again, and not lose any potential viewers to another network. NBC renewed Days for another year in February, keeping the daytime drama on the air though September 2017.
Starting Monday, April 18, Pop will air That '70s Show weeknights in the current Days time slot.

ReplyDeleteI loved when Days was played on POP because it wasn't interrupted by news & then talked about to death. Who cares if it didn't have tons of viewers. The movies POP shows have been viewed for years & seen by many. Bring back Days or have a SOAP channel.
