Comedic trailblazer, actor, singer, dancer, producer and author Carol Burnett visited
Conan on Wednesday, and the subject of her favorite soap opera,
All My Children, came up. Burnett recalled the time she went on a European vacation with her family, and asked a friend to send a weekly telegram with a summary of what happened in Pine Valley to her hotel in whatever city she would be in. While in Lake Como, Italy, she was awakened at 2 a.m. by the friends she was visiting and a hotel manager who was shaking. They gave her the telegram, which they had misinterpreted as being about real people instead fictional characters.
"Erica hasn't come out of her coma yet," Burnett said, remembering how she read off that week's summary on the telegram. "Mona is on trial for murder. And on and on and on..."

On Saturday, Burnett will become the 52nd recipient of SAG-AFTRA's highest tribute: the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment.
