Nathaniel Marston
Elizabeth Jackson is asking for prayers after her son, former soap star Nathaniel Marston, was injured in a car crash on Halloween night.

"Please pray for my son Nathaniel Marston," Jackson wrote in a Facebook post. "He was in a car accident last night and is in the intensive care on life support. Back and neck broken in several places.Other internal injuries. Please pray that he will recover and walk again."

She later posted updates the following updates on his condition:

* "Just spoke to highway patrol and tribal police. In case rumor mill gets going. Nate was sober according to cops. Waiting to speak to Dr.Please pray that Nate does not end up a parapalegic..neck broken and fracuted in neck vertabrea 3,4,5,6, and 7. Shoulder broken along with all ribs. Collapsed lung and pnenoma. Please please pray for him"

* "Spoke to Nates Dr. In all likely hood if he lives he will be paralyzed from the neck down and will not breathe without a ventilator machine.Oh my God please give me strength."

Martson starred as Eddie Silva on As the World Turns, and earned a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination as Outstanding Male Newcomer. He earned another nod while playing Michael McBain on One Life to Live.

We are sending positive thoughts to Nathaniel Marston and his family, and hoping he makes a complete recovery.

UPDATE #1:
On Monday afternoon, Ms. Jackson posted an update on her son's condition: "Nate was able to decide and express very clearly this morni that he is not going to give up without a fight. He is going into surgery at 300 this afternoon. The goal is to get him breathing on his own. The Dr said that there is a good chance that he will recover the use of upper body movement and a slim chance that he will walk again. Recovery will take 2 or more years but where there is life there is hope. Nate has never walked away from a fight and he is determined to win this one.. please pray for Nates full and complete recovery. Both Nate and I appreciate your love prayers and support."

UPDATE #2:
On Tuesday afternoon, Ms. Jackson posted another update: "Good news! Nathaniel opened his eyes and was responsive for the first time since yesterdays surgery.Your prayers love and positive thoughts are working. God is good and he has a big mission for Nathaniel. He is scheduled for another surgery on Wed Nov 04. Please continue to cover him with prayers love and light. Thank you! Your love and support is much appreciated by me our family and Nathaniel. Sending all if you love and light."

UPDATE #3:
From ETOnline: "A preliminary investigation has lead police to believe that Marston was fatigued and fell asleep while driving," according to a statement sent to ET on Tuesday, emphasizing that local Nevada highway patrol and tribal say no drugs or alcohol were involved in the single-car accident.

"The vehicle drifted into the opposite lane and it is believed that when Marston awoke he over-corrected, causing his pickup truck to flip several times," the statement continues.

Marston, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, "was ejected from the vehicle through the windshield and upon landing crushed several vertebrae in his neck and back. Remarkably, he suffered no head trauma."

UPDATE #4:
Ms. Jackson posted the following on Wednesday afternoon: "Hello friends and family of Nathaniel Marston. Nate is in surgery right now... Will let everyone know the result as soon as I know more. My dear friend Janice Ledgerwood set up a Go Fund Me site to help with Nat's and my expenses. I live in Gerlach NV which is 120 miles from the hospital in Reno so for the foreseeable future will be spending my time in Reno and will not be able to work to cover monthly expenses.. rent car payment ect... I appreciate your help which will make it possible to cover both Nate's and my monthly expenses until he stabilizes and I can get back to my job working as a teacher assistant for the Gerlach School which is a small (10 students) Washoe County School, one room school house.Thank you for your prayers love and support during what is the most challenging and difficult time of my life. Sending love and light, Warmest wishes, Elizabeth"

UPDATE #5:
Late Wednesday (November 4) afternoon: "Praise God! Nathaniel made it through today's surgery....! Thank you again for all your prayers, positive thoughts, and support. Your prayers and positive thoughts ARE working!!!! Please continue to keep Nate in your thoughts and prayers asking God for Nathaniel's total and complete recovery. With God and faith anything is possible...! Recovery will be long (2-3 years) and will be an arduous fight. As we all know Nathaniel's a determined warrior who has has never walked away from a fight and he has shown us that this is a fight, that with Gods help he will win. UPDATE #6:
Posted by Ms. Jackson on Thursday (November 5): "Hello Friends and Family! Thank you so much for your continued support, prayers ,positive thoughts and words. I find that I do not have adequate words to express the gratitude I feel for your love and support which has been holding me up since I shared news of Nathaniel's tragic and horrific accident here on FB. Today was a rough day for both me and Nathaniel. His heart stopped twice today once at 3 AM and once at 10:30 AM this morning. Dr.'s are going to install a pacemaker to help regulate his heartbeat so it is more consistent. For now an external pacemaker has been placed on his chest and it is helping. I almost lost all hope for Nathaniel's recovery today after a new trauma Dr. shared with me that the most likely prognosis is that Nathaniel will live out his life as a quadriplegic. Before I listened to her and lost all hope for Nathaniel's recovery I remembered that this Dr. does not know Nathaniel and that she does not know the power of our Father God, who can and will make recovery possible. Thank you again for holding me up with your love, prayers and positive thoughts. Warmest wishes, Elizabeth"

UPDATE #7:
Ms. Jackson posted the following on Friday (November 6): "Good evening Family and Friends! As you already know my cherished and beloved Son Nathaniel Marston was in a horrible and near fatal car crash on October 30, 2015. Today was a rough one for both of us which is why it has taken me so long to post a daily update about Nate's condition. Nate had a tracheotomy today so that the ventilator which is taking his breaths for him, could be placed in his throat rather than by a tube down his throat. This should help in several ways... The tracheotomy will help to reduce infection, as well as damage to his vocal cords. It will also make him more comfortable and best of all I am able to kiss him on his face...Nate is still in critical condition fighting pneumonia, a heart infection, irregular pulse and heartbeat and he is still not breathing on his own, so continued prayers for him are requested because at this point we need a miracle. The prognosis for his recovery is not good and if he makes it through these next few days and weeks it is very possible that he will live as a paraplegic, because injuries to his spinal cord are very severe. There is damage to his C,3,4,5,6,and 7 vertebrata's. While my heart is breaking and there are moments that I feel I cannot go on, I am a strong believer in the power of prayer and firmly believe that Nate's life has been spared so he can fulfill the great purpose and mission that our Father God placed him on this Earth to accomplish. So please help Nate to accomplish this mission with continued prayer and positive thoughts. Thank you for your prayers, love and support for Nate, me and our family as your prayers, support, love and positive words and thoughts are holding me up so that I can be here for Nate and our family in this extraordinarily difficult and almost unbearable moment in time... I will do my best to continue to keep all of you updated. OK? Blessing each and everyone of you and sending my warmest wishes, love, and light, Elizabeth"

UPDATE #8:
Posted late Saturday (November 7) by Ms. Jackson: "The good news today is that Nate is still hanging in there and there have been no significant changes today. He is responding to questions appropriately when asked yes or no questions. When asked to raise his eyebrows if he was in pain he did so. When asked if he could stick out his tongue he did so. This is good news so our prayers are being heard. Please continue to pray for Nate. I am doing my best to stay strong for Nate and for all of you his loving family and friends...I can feel your love and prayers which continue to hold me up giving me the strength and fortitude to make it through each moment and each new day. Your love, prayers and support are my lifeline at this crucial moment and they are enabling me to stay the course remaining hopeful that Nate the Great will recover. Blessings to each and every one of you. Sending warm wishes, peace, love, light and hope. Kind regards, Elizabeth XOXOXOXOXOOX"

UPDATE #9:
Ms. Jackson posted the following on Monday (November 9): "Dearest cherished friends and family so sorry for not posting a daily update until now, but it has been a really difficult day for me because I had a complete mental meltdown.. Doing my best to stay strong and hopeful and I am back on track, mainly because I can feel your prayers positive, thoughts and love lifting me back up. Thank you! Enough about me... Nathaniel was and is so wide awake and has been since early this afternoon.. In my last post I shared that Dr.s were and remain concerned about fluid build up in his skull due to the brain shearing injury. Because Nathaniel is so much more alert today than he has been this is a really good sign. While Dr.'s have scheduled surgery to alleviate the pressure on his brain by drilling two small hole in his skull for Wed Nov 11. Dr.'s will perform a brain scan on Wed prior to surgery to see if fluid has begun to dissipate on its own..If in fact the fluid is dissipating on its own surgery will be cancelled... so lets continue to pray that this surgery will not be necessary. When I was finally able to get a grip on myself tonight I sat down to reflect on the number of miracles which have already been given to us in the last 10 days. First Nate was thrown from the truck which saved his life.. Not sure if y'all saw the cab of the truck, but if so you understand that had he stayed inside he would have been taken out in a million pieces. (The truck looks like it went through a crusher)...This did not happen and Nathaniel does not have a visible cut or bruise on his face, hands, or feet.. He has a few minor abrasions on his legs.. How does this happen to a man who went threw a windshield??? Gods will and love...that's how.. Next I found out and this is something I did not know... Nathaniel's heart is on the right hand side of his body this is called 'Situs inversus' and this only occurs in .01% of the human population. All of the damage to his ribs and lungs is on the left hand side of his body. Had his heart been located in the normal place on the left, Nate would not have survived the accident. Next miracle is that Nathaniel has survived two operations and 10 days later he is still fighting the good fight. Finally Nathaniel has reunited our family. My only brother and nephew and I have been out of contact and have not spoken since 2007. As soon as I emailed my brother that Nathaniel was in a horrific car accident my brother and his son were on a plane from NYC with my nephew and were here the same day. Nathaniel's brother Ikaika, sister Lani and father (not the sperm donor of 40 years ago) and the only father Nathaniel has ever known and a man who has not left the island of Kauai to visit the mainland since 1970 got on a plane and was here the next day...Final miracle happened today when I was able to read Nathaniel lips as he asked me for a Pepsi... Because Nathaniel is still on a ventilator he cant talk or drink a Pepsi, but Praise God because the ventilator in attached to the tracheotomy instead of by tubes down his mouth and throat, I was able to read his lips and understand what he was trying to say.. Pray that Nathaniel is off the vent soon so he can have a Pepsi.. OK? If God was able to raise Lazarus from the dead I feel confident that he can knit Nathaniel's broken bones back together and heal the damaged nerves in his neck, Right??? Sending each and everyone of you peace, love and light... Thank you for your prayers, love, support and hope.. God is and has been hearing our prayers and I am confident that Nathaniel has a huge mission and that his purpose on this Earth to show us that with God anything is possible... Sending peace ,love and light to each and everyone of you... Warmest wishes, Elizabeth"

UPDATE #10:
On Tuesday (November 10) night, Ms. Jackson posted: "Hello Dear Friends and Family...No change today... Another rough day... Nate is scheduled for a brain scan tonight and if fluid has not dissipated he will have surgery to reduce pressure on brain on Wed Nov 11. Doing my best to remain strong. Must rest now... Thank you soo much for your love , kindness, prayers and positive and generous support. It really means so much to me.. Sending all of you love, light and Gods blessings.XOXOXOXOOXOXO"

Really liked him. Know he had some struggles and my heart goes out to him and his family. Praying for his healing and recovery.

  13. Why don't we express love and admiration and much prayer for his mom and those nearest and dearest to Nathaniel. Poisoning a compassionate thought with ridiculous comments of his struggles with substances etc. How does that help his Mom and his legacy. Some people just thrive on attention to post negative thoughts. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED! I'm so sorry Elizabeth for the nasty comments amongst what should be utmost encouragement to you during this difficult times. Know you are as well as your son much loved and prayed for.

  18. Praying for Nathaniel. I can personally testify to the fact that the predictions of doctors don't always turn out to be true. I myself suffered nerve damage and bruising on my brain that left me in a wheelchair for over a year. Doctors told me they didn't know whether I would ever walk again. Well, with faith prayers, and hard work, I am walking and doing better than ever today.

  20. Elizabeth, I am praying for you and I know how the very thought of paralysis crushes your own heart. When he is ready for rehab see if you can get him to Craig Hospital in Denver. It is one of the 3 very best in the US. They can put immediate family members up at no cost when needed. Please look into it soon as there are often waiting lists to get on. Check with his current case social worker to get started.
You both are in my prayers.

  21. I loved Nathaniel on OLTL. My gut tells me that at the end of this arduous road, he'll prevail. He's already fighting the fight, and he's surrounded by a great support system. Also, soap fans know how HARD soap casts and crews work. Long hours, tons of lines, etc. Nathaniel knows he can do "grueling" and see it through. I believe he'll tap into his proven ability to do what he has to do to succeed and come out strong on the other end. Thoughts are with you, Nathaniel.
