Finola Hughes and Genie Francis.
Daytime Emmy award winning actresses Finola Hughes and Genie Francis have signed on for more General Hospital, it was announced today by executive producer Frank Valentini. Hughes has played Anna Devane on and off since 1985, while Francis first joined the ABC soap opera as Laura Spencer in 1977.

"We are thrilled that Genie and Finola will continue to make General Hospital their home for years to come," said Valentini. "These enormously talented actresses have created timeless characters that resonate with our fans."

Hughes won her Emmy in 1991, to go along with four other nominations in 1990, 2000 and 2002 (for her work on All My Children, and 2015. Francis won in 2007, and was also nominated in 1997 and 2012.

  1. Great, but give them storylines and new romantic partners!

  2. Any idea of the length of their contracts?

Finola had a multi-year contract before, so she likely got that again.

However, Frank was notoriously stingy about giving Genie a contract in the past. It was only a 6 month contract in 2013 and 6 months (with a 2 month vacation in the middle) again this summer. So I'm especially curious how long her contract lasts.

  3. Great news, next let's see JE sign a new deal! These leads should be the backbone of the community. The Corinthos' should be secondary, and Frank's pets should, for the most part, leave the show...

  4. I wonder if there was money freed up without TG. It would have been nice to have them both together a little longer.

  5. Genie Francis is one of the highest paid performers on daytime and she needs time off for other projects, which is why GH hasn't had her on contract. I doubt that anyone was being "stingy."
