'Señora Acero' Season Two Production Underway

Following a successful first season, Señora Acero (Mrs. Steel) has started production on a second season of the Telemundo super series starring Blanca Soto. Señora Acero tells the story of Sara Aguilar Bermúdez (Soto), a woman who goes from being an ordinary housewife to controlling a male-dominated criminal world. Respected by all and feared by many, she is known in money laundering circles simply as Señora Acero. Featuring a script by Roberto Stopello (La Reina del Sur), the second season of Señora Acero will be directed by Miguel Varoni (Sin Senos No Hay Paraíso) and Carlos Villegas (La Patrona, El Señor de los Cielos).

The second season of Señora Acero begins with Sara behind bars. She has been waiting five years for a sentence in her case when an attack on her son Salvador (Michele Duval), now a teenager, drives her into a desperate attempt to escape Puente Grande prison. This feat ends in tragedy and an extended sentence for another 25 years. It won’t be long, however, until her friend Aracely (Litzy) finds the key to her release. From that moment on, her enemies must prepare to face the fury of Señora Acero.

This new season of Señora Acero features a stellar cast, most of which comes along from the first season including Litzy, Lincoln Palomeque, José Luis Resendez, Jorge Zárate, Aurora Gil, Alejandro Calva, Valentina Acosta, Alberto Agnesi, Alejandro García, Andy Zuno, Luciana Silveyra, Sergio Lozano and Astrid Hernández. Joining the series for the second season are Ana Lucia Domínguez, Rodrigo Guirao, Diego Soldano, Carla Hernández and Francisco Pakey Vázquez. In addition, the cast features young actors Michel Duval, Isabel Burr, Mauricio Henao, Oscar Priego and Mauricio Martínez.

According to Nielsen, the first season finale of Señora Acero ranked first in Spanish-language television in its time slot among adults aged 18-49. It also was the number one program, regardless of language, among males 18-49 and adults 18-34. On the digital front, the final episode also set a precedent as the program drawing the most activity on Twitter that evening. In all, the series’ first season reached 1.2 million users, generating 3.2 million page visits and 8.3 million video viewings across Telemundo's digital platforms.

The second season is also an original Telemundo Studios production, filmed in Mexico by Argos Televisión. Joshua Mintz, Mariana Iskandarani and Grace Ugalde serve as executive producers.
