General Hospital is celebrating its 52nd anniversary on Wednesday, April 1, with an episode that pays tribute to the original medical team that launched the show in 1963.

According to TVInsider, Jason Thompson (Dr. Patrick Drake), Rebecca Herbst (Nurse Elizabeth Webber), and Ryan Carnes (Dr. Lucas Jones) will appear in flashbacks as the iconic Dr. Steve Hardy (originally played by John Beradino), Nurse Jessie Brewer (Emily McLaughlin) and Dr. Phil Brewer (Roy Thinnes).

"It's really captivating," Carnes says of GH's very first episode. "The aesthetic, the music, the mystery—everything draws you in. It's easy to see why the viewers would get into it and want to come back tomorrow."

The episode will finally reveal why Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) developed a split personality and tried to kill off half of Port Charles. TVInsider called the revelation a "double shocker."

  1. This is what I was hoping for the 50th. ATWT recreated flashbacks for Eileen Fulton's 50th and it worked. On GL's 70th they recreated the behind the scenes of the radio and tv shows.

    1. ATWT's second episode with the women from the show was nice but the one that recreated sitcoms never made any sense to me. I'm sure it was a blast for the cast and crew, but why not pay tribute to ATWT instead of old sitcoms?

  4. Steve and Jessie were similar to Patrick and Liz. To my knowledge, they were great friends and co-workers but never dated.
