'Nashville' Casts Kyle Dean Massey as Openly Gay Country Singer

Out actor Kyle Dean Massey will been cast as an openly gay country singer on ABC primetime soap Nashville.

The Broadway star has landed a recurring role in the musical drama series as Kevin Bicks, a successful singer-songwriter who also happens to be gay, according to Deadline.

Kevin's arrival is expected to cause complications for closeted country singer Will Lexington (Chris Carmack), who viewers have seen struggle with the belief that country music stars must hide their sexuality in order to be successful.

Massey is best known for his role in Broadway musicals "Pippin," "Wicked" and "Next to Normal." His his TV credits include guest roles on "Hart of Dixie" and "The Good Wife."
