'The Doctors' Debuts on Retro TV September 29

Look for classic soap The Doctors to join Retro TV's afternoon lineup starting September 29th. Fans of the Emmy-winning series will find two episodes airing back-to- back every weekday at 12 p.m. ET/PT.

Set in Hope Memorial Hospital in the fictional New England city of Madison, The Doctors ran from 1963-1982 on NBC.

Emily Bronze, Luken's Director of Affiliate Relations, said "The positive feedback we've received since Retro TV's initial announcement of The Doctors has been phenomenal. Classic soap fans are excited about Retro TV and we look forward to expanding our offerings with this genre and audience."

Retro TV will start with The Doctors episodes from 1967, the year the show made the transition from black and white broadcasts to color.

  2. I'm so glad to see some of the old show making a come back, like Rich Man, Poor Man, Murphy Brown and now the Doctors, to bad of the writers now days don't watch these shows and learn something! Especially in the soap world!

    1. I definitely wish today's daytime dramas would take some cues on how to build a story and write it with a decent beginning, a sustained middle and a satisfying ending the way soaps seemed to be able to do until the 90s.

  3. The reason for that ascrivener1 is that that's when the rotating Head Writers started to get out of hand. It also didnt help that really great storytellers were beginning to pass away as well.
