James Scott Leaving 'Days of our Lives' as EJ DiMera

James Scott is leaving Days of our Lives and the role of EJ DiMera after eight years. According to Soap Opera Digest, Scott taped his final episode on Friday, though he will air well into the fall since the show tapes so far in advance.

"We are saddened but supportive of James Scott's decision to leave the show after eight years to take some personal time and pursue new projects," said NBC/Corday Productions in a statement. "His contribution to the show has been tremendous and we wish him the best always."

In his own statement, Scott said, "I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to NBC, Sony and Corday, particularly Ken Corday, for the amazing 8 year run on Days of our Lives and for graciously supporting me in my decision in leaving the show to take personal time. To the unbelievably loving fans, I can’t begin to express my gratitude for your love and support over the years. I will miss you immensely."

In the most recent We Love Soaps "Soap of the Week" poll, Scott was voted favorite actor by our readers.

  2. all the great ones are leaving, Ali, James Bo I have been watching since the first 1/2 hour show I hate all my tv friends are leaving. Even Johns not here too much. The show wont be the same. They all should have to work as long as Alice Horton did. They should age along with us. Hard to believe I have been watching 50 years. I hate all the cast changes. So is EJ leaving cause Sami is? Where is the loyalty. They expect from us should be from them too.

  3. He's the main reason I still watch Days on a regular basis. I don't make knee-jerk statements like "I'm gonna stop watching such and such because of whatever," but if things don't pick up elsewhere on the show, I can certainly see myself watching it a whole lot less and eventually drifting away to other viewing choices.

    1. def agree with foxcrane and Marcia Christie, have been watching days since I was 10 years, since the first show, WOW. Didn't like young Sami but came to like adult Sami. Love, love, love EJ, James Scott. Not so sure where story line is going, but I will stay a loyal Days Fan.

  4. I'm so sad. I have come to appreciate EJ & with Sami going & Bo gone & the "real" Will it's so overwhelming. I'll never stop watching because I always have but if too many do stop we might lose the show.

  5. I hate that they have a new Will and it saddens me to hear that my other two favorites are leaving the show. I hate all of this change and no one can play the parts as good as them. I love you EJ, you are so handsome and today's episode was so damn hot!!! I'm going to miss you and Sami, but I hope you all make Nick pay before it happens!

  6. Can't Nick just get hit by a bus or something? Seriously...kill him off..and Gabbi is so retarded and naive to think he would EVER change...

  7. Things changes. Actors move on. Characters die. This is the world of soaps. It's been like this since the creation of the soap opera. If you can't deal with it, maybe you should find a different hobby.

  8. I was just thinking this week what a great actor he is and I can see him playing a detective, politician etc. in a mini series or movie,. Now today I find out he's leaving. I don't like his character on Days but appreciate his talent. Darn good looking to.

  9. Can't understand why he didn't leave long ago. He's a really good actor and he should be on the big screen and doing bigger projects. He's a good looking guy who can really act. Sure Days will miss him, but I don't think it will be the last we see of him.

  10. Sorry to hear that he is leaving, love to look at him he's gorgeous. I hope that show will still remain good once he leaves, otherwise I won't be interested in watching it anymore.
