Jill Larson & Robert Scott Wilson - Photo: Sue Coflin/Max Photos
We Love Soaps recently participated in a Q&A session with ALL MY CHILDREN stars Jill Larson (Opal) and Robert Scott Wilson (Pete) who shared their thoughts on The OnLine Network's new version of the show. Read the transcript below:

Walker Ragsdale (We Love Soaps): In the past Opal had a little bit of psychic vision. Is that something that you would like to see revisited?
Jill Larson: Oh definitely, I think once a psychic always a psychic and I think that there have been times when it's been used wonderfully and times when it's been used to such extent that, you know, there was a time in Pine Valley where I was foreseeing every possible catastrophe with 100% accuracy and still no one believed me, you know, so that was always - I always sort of had to get a laugh out of that.

NEWS: Binge Watching, Shawn Christian, Alley Mills, James Lipton, Melissa Leo, Peter Parros, Tika Sumpter, Antonio Sabato Jr., Jeanne Cooper Deleted Scene

From ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT to DR. WHO, Binge Watching Is Changing Our Culture
Grant McCracken writes: "Why do we binge watch? One way to answer this question is to say, well, we binge on TV for the same reason we binge on food. For a sense of security, creature comfort, to make the world go away. And these psychological factors are no doubt apt."

"I believe we binge on TV to craft time and space, and to fashion an immersive near-world with special properties. We enter a world that is, for all its narrative complexity, a place of sudden continuity. We may have made the world “go away” for psychological purposes, but here, for anthropological ones, we have built another in its place. The second screen in some ways becomes our second home."

Former GUIDING LIGHT actor James Lipton (who also wrote for many daytime soaps) talks about being a pimp in Paris in the 1950s
"I was. It was only a few years after the war. Paris was different then, still poor. Men couldn’t get jobs and, in the male chauvinist Paris of that time, the women couldn’t get work at all. It was perfectly respectable for them to go into le milieu."

"[I represented] a whole bordello. I represented them all, but her especially. I did a roaring business, and I was able to live for a year. The French mecs didn’t exploit women. They represented them, like agents. And they took a cut. That’s how I lived. I was going through my rites of passage, no question about it. It was a great year of my life."

DAYS OF OUR LIVES star Shawn Christian busy with three other projects
No less than three projects consume his waking, non-“Daniel” hours: Spanners, a sci-fi, film noir “loooow budget” thriller, in which he produces and acts as an 8,000-year-old immortal with a “deep-dish monotone” voice; ADDICTS ANONYMOUS, a half-hour, single camera comedy for which Christian and his cohorts (including DAYS actor Freddie Smith) are seeking funding through kickstarter.com; and Carolina Blues, a movie he’s writing, loosely based on Sierra Lantz, the Kent City teen stock car driver who races her pink four-cylinder at Berlin Raceway and other venues. Christian is one of Lantz’s proudest racing sponsors.

Daytime Television at the Smithsonian on WE LOVE SOAPS TV -- Susan Lucci, Alex Trebek, Phil & Kathy Baker, John Gray and Malachy G. Wienges

On May 9, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in Washington D.C. added artifacts that reflect the contributions of daytime television programming to the national entertainment collection in a special ceremony to mark a new partnership with the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Three-time Indie Soap Award winner Anthony Anderson from ANACASTIA covered the event WE LOVE SOAPS TV.

The donations--from ALL MY CHILDREN actress Susan Lucci, JEOPARDY! host Alex Trebek and BARNEY creators Kathy and Phil Parker—represented three of the primary Daytime Entertainment Emmy categories—daytime dramas, game shows and children’s programming.

WE LOVE SOAPS TV spoke to all the contributors as well as museum director, John Gray, as well as NATAS chairman Malachy G. Wienges. Wienges told us The OnLine Network's ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE would be eligible for the 2014 Daytime Emmy Awards.

"Those two shows will fall into the normal soap opera categories," Wienges said. "It makes no difference what the genre is."

Check out the latest episode of our web series WE LOVE SOAPS TV below to hear on the scene reaction. Plus, Susan Lucci reveals more about her character on the upcoming primetime soap opera DEVIOUS MAIDS and a possible return to ALL MY CHILDREN.

"I hope so," Lucci told us about the chances of her bringing Erica Kane to the new ALL MY CHILDREN. "I'm trying, and they are trying.  There's a lot to work out simply because when they went into production I was in Atlanta working on the Marc Cherry series, DEVIOUS MAIDS.  And now we're about to start Season 2 on my Investigation Discovery series, DEADLY AFFAIRS next week in New York.  So that's a lot of complicated scheduling.  Plus, ALL MY CHILDREN's schedule is also complicated and challenging because they work five weeks on and five weeks off.  So trying to marry those two things, that's what the challenge is and that's what we're going to try to make happen."

Speaking of DEVIOUS MAIDS, Lucci told us she loves how her character's name, Genevieve Delatour, is pronounced and gave us some insights about her role in the Lifetime series.
