Ryan Carnes Returning to GENERAL HOSPITAL as Lucas

Ryan Carnes is returning to GENERAL HOSPITAL as Lucas Jones, the adopted son of Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) and Tony Jones (Brad Maule). Lucas has been discussed on the show in recent weeks because he is the biological son of the late Cheryl Stansbury and Julian Jerome (William deVry), a mobster who returned to the show alive this year after being presumed dead for more than two decades. Julian never knew Lucas existed until last week when Sam, Julian's daughter and Lucas' biological half-sister, mentioned his name during a tense conversation on the docks.

Carnes played the role in 2004-2005 before Ben Hogestyn took over as Lucas for a 9 month run. Lucas was last seen in June 2006 after coming out to his family. When Bobbie returned for the Nurses Ball this spring she mentioned that Lucas was doing well and she just wished he had a nice man in his life.

Carnes other credits include the films Eating Out and Letters from Iwo Jima, as well as television roles in DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, BLACKOUT and RIZZOLI & ISLES.

There's no official word yet on when Carnes will first air on GENERAL HOSPITAL. The show currently features two other gay male characters in Felix DuBois (Marc Anthony Samuel) and Brad Cooper (Parry Shen).

  1. I am so happy he is playing lucas again. Nothing against Ben Hogestyn or any previous actor in the role, but Ryan is the best lucas jones.

  2. I was hoping Ryan would return as Lucas. I didn't hold out much hope so I'm thrilled by this news.

  3. Interesting because the rumor was always that he left "GH" because he was afraid of being typecast after it was announced that Lucas would come out. He had already done Eating Out and Desperate Housewives playing gay roles and did not want to add a third to to his resume.

  4. Excellent. He is gorgeous and I liked him on Desperate Housewives There's lots of story to tell with Lucas.

If Lucas is eventually romantically paired with a current character, I hope that it is Felix as played by Marc Anthony Samuel. Samuel is a very good actor and easily moves from comedy to drama. The major problem with Felix is that he is woefully underdeveloped. His character only exists to prop Sabrina Santiago_a terribly shallow character. Get him a story to match the actor's talent.

As far as the actor who plays Brad...well, he is not very good and should be treated as dayplayer at best.

  5. While I could be wrong...I thought I read that Marc didn't want to be paired with an established character but with someone new.
