Karla Alvarez Dead at 41

Mexican actress and telenovela star Karla Álvarez has died at age 41.

Alvarez, considered one of the biggest villains on Mexican TV, was found by a maid in her apartment in Mexico City on Friday, November 15, and officials have attributed her cause of death to cardiopulmonary arrest due to complications from eating disorders anorexia and bulimia.

Alvarez appeared in shows like MI QUERIDA ISABEL, AGUJETAS DE COLOR DE ROSA, PRISIONERA DE AMOR, LA INTRUSA and VIVAN LOS NINOS. Her last role was playing 'Irasema' in the telenovela QUE BONITO AMOR.

The actress, who began her career in 1992 in the telenovela MARIA MERCEDES with Thalia, also acted in stage plays like "Engañame Si Puedes," "La Cenicienta" and "La Casa de los Lios." In film she had a starring role in La Santa Muerte.

Paying tribute to her tragic former co-star, Thalia wrote on Twitter: "Very saddened by the parting of Karlita Alvarez. Great memories of MARIA MERCEDES. Prayers for her family. Rest in peace."

Alvarez's popularity soared following her appearance in BIG BROTHER VIP in 2003.
