Thorsten Kaye Joins THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL

ALL MY CHILDREN star Thorsten Kaye has joined the cast of THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL as the new Ridge Forrester, according to TVGuide.com. He replaces longtime star Ronn Moss, who departed the soap in 2012 after 25 years.

Kaye will make his B&B debut on December 13. Ridge will be returning from more than a year away in Paris to find his ex-wife Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) is now engaged to Bill Spencer (Don Diamont).

"I won't bring the same tools to the role as Ronn did," Kaye said, "but I do have a couple of my own. I just hope the audience will let me play with this for a bit and try to get my footing."

"I don't have a contract there anymore," Kaye explained when asked about his deal with AMC production company Prospect Park. "It's sad, you know? And I hope it all works out for them. But when you have a solid opportunity on a show that's so highly regarded, you just gotta take it."

In addition to his role as Zach Slater on ALL MY CHILDREN, Kaye's other soap roles include Ian Thornhart in PORT CHARLES, Patrick Thornhart on ONE LIFE TO LIVE and Nick Felder in SMASH.

    2. I agree, let Ridge and Katie hook up. Let Maya and Little Rick get back together, and let Hope get pregnant by Wyatt, and watch your ratings soar.....

  3. I had hoped that Grant Alexander would be hired for this role but cannot complain about the casting of Thorsten Kaye. Hope the writing is worthy of the actor.

  5. Happy for Thorsten and fans of B&B. Sad for those of us still rooting for AMC.

    1. One doesn't necessarily have to cancel out the other. If AMC does return as PP has claimed, schedules could be negotiated.

Good for Thorsten though. That will be an interesting dynamic between he and KKL and even Don Diamont. I can actually see this working, if the writing is balanced.

Whomever mentioned Grant Alexander, despite the blonde hair--not a bad idea, I hadn't thought of that one.

  6. I am not sure about this choice for Ridge - I don't think Thorsten is polished enough.

  7. I initially thought of Grant Aleksander too because of the strong resemblance in facial features to Ronn Moss and because of similar mannerisms but like Thorsten and am anxious to see what he brings to the role. I'm just glad that they finally recast the role. Can't wait to see the whole dynamic of him returning to find Brooke has moved on. ;-)

  13. I love this choice for Ridge. I think he will bring something to the table and be a forceful match for Dollar Bill? I can't wait. I will be watching next Friday with bated breath. Kaye will be a welcomed addition. We need this actor to come in and make some sense of the madness that is going on between the two sisters and to possibly straighten things out. It's time for a strong male figure to come to the show and hold his own without backing down for no one. Kaye is just the man for the job. All we need now is for Katie to be the strong woman that I thought they would make her character. I hate it when they show all of the women as weak, needy people in need of acceptance of a man to make them who they are.

  14. Disastrous: Ted King, Grant Aleksander, Ed Fry, Jeffrey Meek, Robert Newman, Thomas Ian Griffith, Eddie Peck, Joe Lando, Mark Derwin, Richard Torti, Bradley Cole, Vincent Irizzary, Dan Gauthier, Mark Collier--any of these would have been better than Kaye.
