Today in Soap Opera History (September 20)

1979: EON's Trent arrived in Monticello. 1985: GH's Bobbie had
to admit she was snooping in Laurelton. 1990: KL's Danny
wanted to hurt Gary. 2001: MTV's SPYDER GAMES ended its run.

On this date in...

1948: On radio soap opera CLAUDIA, Claudia and David spent an evening at home.

1952: The first commercial UHF television station in the world, KPTV, began broadcasting in Portland, Oregon on channel 27.

1968: On ANOTHER WORLD, Bill declared to Liz (Audra Lindley): "As far as I'm concerned, I have no mother."

1979: On AS THE WORLD TURNS, Kim (Kathryn Hays) and the Stewart family dealt with the aftermath of Dan's death, while Melinda (Ariane Munker, now Ariana Chase) turned to her sister, Barbara (Colleen Zenk), for comfort after Beau told her in a letter he was never coming back to Oakdale.



1979: On THE EDGE OF NIGHT, Trent Archer (Farley Granger), the man set to play the devil in Mansion of the Damned, arrived in Monticello with his own ideas about the film.



1985: On DAYS OF OUR LIVES, Pete (Michael Leon) snuck back into Salem to give blood to his son, Charlie.



1985: On GENERAL HOSPITAL, Terry's (Robyn Bernard) grandmother called to tell her that Bobbie (Jackie Zeman) and Jake (Sam Behrens) were snooping around Laurelton.



1990: On KNOTS LANDING, Danny (Sam Behrens) let Gary's (Ted Shackelford) horses at the ranch. When Gary came to the stable, Danny closed the door behind him and took out a bat.



1999: On ONE LIFE TO LIVE, Kelly (Gina Tognoni) and Brian (Kevin McClatchy) went to Dorian's cabin but Kelly forgot the key.  The climbed through a window unaware of the alarm system.  Later, Rae showed up believing she could help Brian.



2001: MTV aired the last episode of SPYDER GAMES. The final episodes were delayed a week after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

  2. I wish there existed clips of Audra Lindley as Liz Matthews. Fan of hers from Three’s Company and would love to see her take on Aunt Liz as compared to Irene Dailey.

  3. I know they are rare, but I hope you have more ATWT 70's clips for us to enjoy. These have been great surprises.

  4. I have to second that these 1970’s ATWT clips have been great to see. They highlight the importance of the Stewart family. It sad that that powers that be had no respect for history and veterans when someone like Patricia Bruder (Ellen Stewart) was not brought back for the ending of the show.
