Y&R Preview: Katherine Chancellor Memorial Service

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS is honoring the memory of the late Jeanne Cooper by airing a special two-part memorial service for her beloved character, Katherine Chancellor, on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Wednesday. Sept. 4. Cooper’s real-life son, actor Corbin Bernsen, returns to the show as Father Todd, who presides over the service.

[SPOILER ALERT]

In the new preview clip below, Father Todd says, "It's time to celebrate all that we loved about the great Katherine Chancellor." The most intriguing part may be the hint that "one of her last wishes will come true."

  1. I think ms. cooper would be very upset that you did not invite phillip chancellor aka thom beirdz back for her memorial

    1. IA - It's pretty rotten that they didn't ask Bierdz back. Given the love Kay had for Phillip, and Jeanne for Thom, it just stinks. And as long as everyone's getting letters from Kay, what a missed opportunity not to have Phillip get one with Kay's final words to him. Fail.

  2. The service looks so cheap. Couldn't they splurge for this episode?

  5. Bierdz might be toying with the fans and it's possible Phillip's appearance is the *surprise* shown in the promo.

    1. Somehow I doubt Bierdz would have used the phrase "No gays allowed" when he told Nelson Branco that he was not asked to make an appearance. (It's in Branco's latest newsletter put out yesterday.) With that, he was obviously trying to make another point as well. ... I have no idea what the surprise is, but perhaps it's one of the Mackenzie's with Kay's great-grandson, "DJ" (referred to in the obituary). That would give them a three generation legacy there with Kay's son, Brock.
