The "ALMA de tu Mundo" award, presented by Telemundo in conjunction with the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) recognizes artists who use their fame and talent to help the neediest in society and create awareness of various philanthropic endeavors. Handed out for the first time ever, the “ALMA de Tu Mundo” acknowledges the work of renowned actress Eva Longoria (DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS), who has been engaged in many causes on behalf of the Latino community to help ensure a better future for Hispanic families through civic engagement, voting, education, and entrepreneurship.
The National Council of La Raza is the creator of the ALMA Awards, the only awards show presented in English honoring Latinos in the entertainment industry and airing in prime time nationwide. The ALMA Awards, which will broadcast live on Friday, September 27 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT through MSNBC TV, is an award ceremony that celebrates the triumph of Latinos in music, film and television, uniting entertainment with social causes.
During its second edition, PREMIOS TU MUNDO will also hand out for the first time Telemundo’s “Poder Musical” award, reserved only for artists who with courage, talent and innovative power revolutionize the world of music. Daddy Yankee was selected to receive the coveted recognition because of his unstoppable success that spans more than a decade. His unique innovating power has led him to place the urban music genre not only on the map but atop music charts around the globe.
The popular awards show will also feature electrifying performances by Daddy Yankee, Natalia Jimenez, Banda Los Recoditos, Victor Manuelle, Aracely Arambula, Cristian Castro, Voz De Mando, Elvis Crespo, Tito “El Bambino,” Carlos Ponce, Roberto Junior y Su Bandeño, Aaron Diaz, Gabriel Coronel, Paola Guanche, and exclusively from Broadway to Telemundo, the world famous STOMP.
An eclectic constellation of stars will join the prestigious awards show as presenters including: Ana Layevska, Ana Maria Polo, Aylin Mujica, Carmen Villalobos, Christian Bach, David Chocarro, Diego Soldano, Gonzalo Garcia Vivanco, Jorge Luis Pila, Janet Murguia, Juan Soler, Mala Suerte, Maria Celeste Arraras, Maritza Rodriguez, Pedro Capo, Penelope Menchaca, Rafael Amaya, Rashel Díaz, Roberto Tapia, Sonya Smith, and Ximena Duque.
Through fan voting and a selection process that combines the power of television, web, mobile and social media platforms, PREMIOS TU MUNDO gives viewers the final say in what’s hot in novelas, music, fashion, movies and sports, selecting from 20 competing categories, and making the winners a true reflection of the people’s choice. The list of finalists selected by fans includes top Latino music stars Don Omar, Pitbull, Prince Royce, Wisin y Yandel, Gerardo Ortiz and Jesse & Joy; novela stars Rafael Amaya, Aracely Arambula, Christian Bach and Saul Lisazo; top Hollywood Latino stars such as Michelle Rodriguez and Zoe Saldaña; and sport icons Lionel “Leo” Messi and Chicharito Hernandez, among others.
