CLASSIC CLIPS: Brock Reynolds on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) and Brock Reynolds (Beau Kazer)
With THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS beginning the storyline of Katherine Chancellor's death, we thought it was a great time to look back on the character of Brock Reynolds, Kay's son. Y&R has not officially announced returning actors for the upcoming storyline (Eric Braeden tweeted Michael Damian was coming back) but the show can not possibly tell a story about the passing of Jeanne Cooper's beloved character without Beau Kazer playing Brock once again.

Brock first appeared in 1974 and has been on the show on and off ever since, becoming both a lawyer and a minister over the years. Kazer last appeared as Brock in October 2011.

Brock was Katherine's son with high school sweetheart, Gary Reynolds. After his father's death, Brock rebelled by using drugs and becoming a playboy. Eventually, he ran off to Europe with his friend Lorie Brooks (Jaime Lyn Bauer). Once Brock returned to Genoa City in 1974, he tried to make peace with his mother as he had found religion and become a minister.

Brock became involved with Jill Foster (Brenda Dickson) as part of Kay's plan to keep Jill from her husband, Phillip Chancellor II. Later, Brock became a lawyer and represented Snapper Foster when he went on trial for pulling the plug on his father. Brock had relationships with Casey Reed (Roberta Leighton) and Leslie Brooks (Janice Lynde), as well as a flirtation with Victor Newman's wife, Julia (Meg Bennett).

Brock eventually left town but returned in 1984 to help Kay recover after her facelift.

Brock formed a relationship with Gina Roma (Patty Weaver) and helped her as she struggled during her relationship with Clint Radison (James Michael Gregary).

During one of his visits, Brock and Esther (Kate Linder) discussed Kate's (now Chloe) future.

In 1999 Brock discovered he had a daughter, Mackenzie Browning (Ashley Bashioum), that he never knew about. Brock stayed in town a while, and eventually Esther put him and his mother on a diet.

Brock left for India but returned to Genoa City when he learned of his long, lost brother, Tucker McCall (William Russ).

When Chance "died" Brock and Tucker (now Stephen Nichols) discussed how Kay was handling the news.

Brock last appeared on October 8, 2011, when Katherine was in the hospital.

Do you have any favorite Brock memories from over the years?

  1. You forgot to mention when Brock came back to town in 1999, to discover his long lost daughter Mackinze.

  3. I started watching Y&R in 1973 from the beginning with Lori, Chris, Peggy, and Leslie. I do not remember why the story-line change so drastically. I am still watching it today, however, I missed the last two days with Catherine's funeral, etc. Could you show it again? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE??
