NEWS: Being ‘Wicked’ Suits Kim Zimmer; GLEE Season 5 Cast; Oliver Mellor Quits CORRIE

Former GUIDING LIGHT star Kim Zimmer in "Wicked"
Being ‘Wicked’ suits famed actress Kim Zimmer
In Madame Morrible’s big, frizzy, upswept wig and voluminous Ozian costume, Kim Zimmer disappears so deep in her character in “Wicked” that she walks out the stage door, and fans who watched her for decades as Reva Shayne, the primary romantic lead on GUIDING LIGHT, don’t recognize her.

“I walk right past people who make no comment,” Zimmer said by telephone from a coffee shop in Columbus, Ohio, where “Wicked” stopped before beginning a five-week run at Philadelphia’s Academy of Music. “The night after they see the show, I find people waiting who say, ‘I loved you as Reva on the GUIDING LIGHT. I didn’t know it was you until I got home and read the program. When I realized who you were, I had to come back to get your autograph.’”

“Soaps did not fold because the audience became tired of them,” Zimmer said. “They just became too costly."

“You can analyze it, but you can’t do anything about it. So you move on. I’m an actor. I will find a place to act. For this period of time, it’s in the theater, and thank goodness for it."

MAD MEN: Will it really end in 1969?
EW.com speculates if the year will be 1969 when MAD MEN returns for its seventh and final season. Or 1970? 1973…? Or might Matthew Weiner throw a curve and leap into the future — say 1980 — before flashing-back to the beginning of the previous decade.

Twitter Wants to Be Social Epicenter for Live Events
During a panel at Brookings' Center for Technology Innovation, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo outlined his plans to make Twitter more user-friendly .

“It would be nice to see things like a graphic of spikes in the conversation, what time they happened … and be able to scroll back to that time to see what happened at that particular moment,” Costolo said. He envisions a tool that would allow users to "follow along with Twitter in a DVR mode" rather than sift through a reverse-chronological stream of tweets.

Twitter is trying to find ways to mine data from the crush of information on its site. Costolo explained that the difficulty lies in filtering "the signal from the noise" during live events, which often cause Twitter to crash from an influx of traffic.

Oliver Mellor quits CORONATION STREET over lack of storylines

“There were quite long periods when I didn’t appear at all," says the actor who has played Matt Carter for three years, "so I realized it was time to leave. They didn’t try to make me stay – they admitted they didn’t have any solid plans for the doctor and it would be more of the same."

Lea Michele tweets photo of GLEE Season 5 cast
GLEE stars Melissa Benoist (Marley), Jacob Artist (Jake), Becca Tobin (Kitty), and Blake Jenner (Ryder) and Alex Newell (Wade AKA “Unique”) will now be series regulars.

On Friday it was revealed that GLEE original cast members Heather Morris (Brittany), Mark Salling (Puck), Amber Riley (Mercedes), Dianna Agron (Quinn) and Harry Shum, Jr. (Mike) will not be returning as series regulars next season. Some or all may make an appearance.

Eva Longoria Defends DEVIOUS MAIDS Against Critics
"When people talk about stereotypical maids, these maids are anything but," Longoria, 38, said over a long lunch at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood two days before the premiere party. She said future plot points would reveal more developed people.

She was eager to counter the negative reactions to the show.

"I think it's important for us to have a dialogue of identity in our culture, and even though this show may not be your experience, it is a lot of people's experience," she said. Latinos, she added, "over-index in domestic workers: That is a fact, that's not an opinion."
