ALL MY CHILDREN & ONE LIFE TO LIVE Writer Promotions & Changes: Lisa Connor & Chip Hayes To Lead AMC Writing Team, Jessica Klein & Marin Gazzaniga Head OLTL

The OnLine Network announced today changes to the writing staff of ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE.

In a statement the shows’ creator Agnes Nixon posted the following:
It is now my pleasure to announce that the future stories involving the lives of ALL MY CHILDREN's beloved characters are from now on in the capable hands of the co-head writers Lisa Connor and Chip Hayes, both of whom have a long and stellar history with our program.

Lisa Connor collaborated with me on the final draft of the ALL MY CHILDREN Twenty - Fifth Anniversary Family Album. For two years she also served as a line producer of the program and was creatively involved in plotting and writing daily episodes since 2002.

In addition to his six years as a producer on MELROSE PLACE, Chip Hayes in 2003, became a vital member of those devising the ongoing drama of ALL MY CHILDREN. He remains in this crucial work through its incarnation on the internet.

I agree with Prospect Park's decision to replace the head writing team for ALL MY CHILDREN. However, I particularly want to thank Marlene McPherson and Elizabeth Snyder for their incredibly positive dedication to the show and their constant helpful attitude during many long hours of intense work. It is greatly appreciated.

  1. The clouds have parted, the sun streams through and a chorus sings Hallelujah! Hopefully the second time is the charm and these new writers will have a better knowledge of story structure, engaging plots and realistic dialogue.

  3. Hopefully this means the characters will revert to "who" they were on television.

  4. Just looking at the names/credits of the OLTL writing team, one would guess the strategy is to fashion it's plotting, pacing, and structure to be more like a one-hour per week, primetime, cable drama .. and well, in terms of minutes per week, they're already there. (Recalling, right now, Jeff Kwatinez's suggestion last week that we'd all love 50 episodes of Homeland or Mad Men per year).

  6. new format for both shows is a huge disappointment! If I wanted to watch drunk/drugged up, overdosing, fowl-mouthed tweens I could hang out at the school yard. Bring back the elegance, humor and sophistication of the original OLTL and All my Children!! Trying too hard to be Gossip Girl meets Dirty Little Liars. Please!

  7. Cfran...it has always been that way. All My Children was the one heavily promoted by ABC & OLTL was left out. I still to day do NOT understand why...OLTL was always & still is the better of the two.

  13. And....don't even get me started on the "trio" returning to GH. Roger is worth his weight in gold, but it's really painful to watch the whole Kiky and Morgan scenes. Alfonso was "kinda cute" on OLTL, but her blank stare with mouth hanging open is getting really old.

  14. I agree with others - OLTL has always been the better of the 2 soaps! so why are they cheapening it with so much of the Bar, body- sweat shots and druggies with tattoos, etal? Bring it back to its core. Furthermore, I don't believe they were cut back due to us all bein too busy, as a poll I saw elsewhere only had that problem for 10% of folks, while most had no problem with 4 per week per show!
