GH50 PALEY INTERVIEW: Maurice Benard On His New Film 'The Ghost and The Whale'

Maurice Benard plays everyone's favorite mobster ("Sonny Corinthos") on GENERAL HOSPITAL. I has the distinct pleasure of speaking with the actor on the red carpet of the "General Hospital: Celebrating 50 Years and Looking Forward" event at the Los Angeles Paley Center on April 12.

Congratulations on the anniversary.
MAURICE BENARD: It's an honor to be on the show as long as I have been on. The history is amazing.

You recently finished your movie The Ghost and The Whale. Anything you can share about that?
MAURICE BENARD: Oh man, wait until you see it. It was hard to do, extremely difficult, because I had to play a different guy. I had to become a different guy. From what I have seen so far from the dailies, you have never seen me do anything like this acting wise. It's three times deeper than anything you have seen me do.

Is there a release date yet?
MAURICE BENARD: We are editing now. We just did the voice over from famed Welsh actor Jonathan Pryce, who's doing the voice of the whale. It should be completed by the end of the summer and I can't wait to see what happens.
