THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS Classic Photo Of The Day (Y&R at DONAHUE)

In honor of the upcoming 40th anniversary of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS (YR40), We Love Soaps will be posting a "Classic Photo of the Day" for the rest of the month. Today's photo is from a taping of the talk show DONAHUE on May 24, 1993, and features Jeanne Cooper (Katherine), Lauralee Bell (Christine) and Tricia Cast (Nina).

Cooper recently spoke with TV Guide Magazine about the symptoms Katherine has been having lately as well as her own bout with the flu.

"Why do you think all the executives moved out and went to the Radford lot in Studio City?" Cooper said after she explained several cast members had recently been sick. "The CBS building is falling apart. There's mold, there's rats, there's dust. I mean, the place hasn't been vacuumed in 50 years. People are contracting a lot of nonsense there. Plus, we're sitting on methane gas."

"Nobody wants to see that," she said of a potential Alzheimer's diagnosis. "Y&R is an hour of escape and relief for people. That's what's kept it on the air 40 years! The audience wants Katherine vibrant. They want to see her kicking ass. I've worked hard for that."
