NEWS ROUNDUP: Amber Tamblyn, How Bermuda Cleaned Up With Soaps, Vanessa Marcil

Kathy Bates joins AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN
Showrunner Ryan Murphy teases, "It's a really cool story we've been talking about for a couple of years. So we're going to do that."

For the first time, the series will film on location in New Orleans, among other spots. "The fun thing is researching what are the really haunted places in America, and we have a couple doozy locales," Murphy says.

Amber Tamblyn To Star In CBS Drama Pilot ANATOMY OF VIOLENCE
Inspired by the nonfiction book by Adrian Raine, the 20th TV-produced drama centers on Raines (Skeet Ulrich), a maverick FBI Criminal Psychiatrist with an expertise in sociopaths who partners with Abby (Tamblyn), a young female FBI Agent with whom he shares a conflicted past. Abby joined the Bureau after watching her sister get traumatized at the hands of a gunman thirteen years ago.

Requiem for a musical: How SMASH went wrong
"So why did the show’s big, overhyped relaunch fail so miserably? It’s simple: While Safran and his team gave the show a cosmetic facelift, they failed to address the underlying issues that have plagued SMASH since its second episode — specifically, weak, repetitive storytelling and scenes that are never nearly as captivating as the show’s songs."

Bermuda Cleaned Up With Soap Exposure
Bermuda tourism cleaned up in terms of TV exposure when two popular CBS soap operas did location shooting on the island in the 1980s and ’90s.

While they were appearing in AS THE WORLD TURNS, future movie siren Meg Ryan and David McCallum appeared in a number of sequences shot aboard a cruise ship and in Bermuda in 1983.

A few years later THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS — then wildly popular on the island — did extensive location shooting on the island for a Bermuda-themed 1990 storyline. The typically convoluted — and addictive — plot involved a murderer from the soap’s fictional Genoa City being tracked to the island by a father/son detective team after he flees here with his lover who he has framed in her husband’s death.

Most recognized for his 10 year role as Bart on NBC’s Days of Our Lives, Blackwood has also built a strong following for his impactful role as acting teacher and coach. In his teaching, he takes what he learned from mentors, Uta Hagen in New York and Milton Katselas (Acting Guru to the stars) in Los Angeles. Combining that with his own years in the industry, Blackwood has valuable knowledge to share in helping an actor get the parts they audition for.

BUNHDEADS Fans Hope for More
This bittersweet comedy from Amy Sherman-Palladino about life and dance in the California hills lost about 40 percent of its audience over the course of its first season, which ended Feb. 25, and ABC Family has not announced whether it will be renewed. For the one million people who watched the finale Sutton Foster and Bailey Buntain may forever be sitting on a bench, wondering if the boy Ms. Buntain’s character slept with will ever call her back.

Vanessa Marcil is officially a free woman
Marcil's divorce from Carmine Giovinazzo is now final.

Vanessa gets the 2009 Chevy Silverado, their L.A. property, a bunch of bank accounts ... as well as all rights to her baby clothes company called Baby Gagoo.

Carmine gets the mother lode -- a 2002 Mercedes CLK, his 2006 Harley, his 2010 Triumph motorcycle, the 1969 Pontiac GTO, 2009 Ducati, 2011 Chevy Camaro ... plus a bunch of bank accounts and other boring stuff.

Shonda Rhimes Wants Kate Walsh, Caterina Scorsone Back on GREY'S ANATOMY -- 'At Some Point'
"I would love to see Addison back at Seattle Grace at some point for a visit," Rhimes told The Hollywood Reporter recently of bringing both Walsh and Scorsone back to ABC's GREY'S ANATOMY. "I've said a million times that before the show ends its run, Addison has got to put on her shoes and scrub cap and come scrub in at the hospital. That's a given for me."

Will & Sonny: DAYS OF OUR LIVES' new supercouple
