Steve Burton Joins THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, Debuts January 29

Announced today live on THE TALK, Daytime Emmy Award winner Steve Burton will join the #1 daytime drama THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. His first episode will air Tuesday, January 29 on CBS. Burton will play Dylan McAvoy, a rugged ex-soldier with a secret arriving in Genoa City.

"They asked if I was ready to come back to daytime and ... what could they do to make that work," said Burton. He said he wanted his family to stay in Tennessee and he needed a flexible schedule to spend time with them.

"I get to have the best of both worlds and fly back and forth" from Los Angeles, he said. "I wasn't really expecting it."

Most recently, Burton played Jason Morgan on GENERAL HOSPITAL, a role he’s had since 1991, winning him a Daytime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1998. His other credits include the television miniseries Taken and the film The Last Castle. Also, he tours with his former GH castmates in his band Port Chuck.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS has been the #1-rated daytime drama for more than 24 consecutive years. The show is broadcast weekdays (12:30-1:30 p.m. ET; 11:00 a.m.-12:00 Noon PT) on the CBS Television Network and is produced by Bell Dramatic Serial Company, in association with Sony Pictures Television. Y&R will celebrate its 40th anniversary on March 26, 2013.
