Kin Shriner Returning To GENERAL HOSPITAL

Just a week after news that Genie Francis will be reprising the role of Laura Spencer on GENERAL HOSPITAL comes word that the character's first husband, Scott Baldwin, is also returning. Billy Warlock (ex-A.J.) tweeted the news that Kin Shriner would be returning to the soap.

Said Warlock, "Jon Lindstrom [Kevin] is back on GH and now Kin Shriner is going back. Please give them lots of support."

Shriner was last seen on the show in 2008, when Scott joined Laura on her flight to Paris. The actor first began playing Scott in 1977. He revealed in a 2010 We Love Soaps interview that Scott was the favorite character he had played.

"I've had the most fun with him because with him I've been able to span four decades from my 20s to my 30s and my 40s and into my 50s," Shriner said, "so I have history playing his dreams and ambitions and faults and everything else. He has been with me the longest. The other guys kind of fell by the wayside."

Shriner starts shooting January 22.

"There are four or five girls in that town that are ripe for some more Scotty action," Shriner teases in a new TV Guide Magazine interview. "Lucy has unfinished business with me, and there's Crazy Heather, Tracy Quartermaine, Anna Devane. He was involved with all of them. And then Laura, of course. I don't know what they've got planned for me. It's very hush-hush-sweet-charlotte down there at ABC these days. Back in the old days we didn't have all this texting and googling and tweeting to spoil storylines but, still, at the Luke and Laura wedding, [exec producer] Gloria Monty kept me locked in a trailer so the secret wouldn't get out that Scotty was there to catch the bouquet. So, really, nothing's changed!"

Co-star Anthony Geary (Luke) had high praise for Shirner when he made the We Love Soaps Greatest Actor countdown three years ago.

"Kin Shriner is authentic, a true original," Geary said. "There is no one like him. His on screen performances are always interesting, quirky, off kilter, and often ironic, sparkling with glimpses of his great sense of humor. Off screen is a good friend and confidant. We know where the bodies are buried, Kin and I."
