CLASSIC CLIP: Dr. Ed Bauer Reads The Story Of The First Christmas On GUIDING LIGHT

In 1979 on GUIDING LIGHT the staff of Cedars Hospital in Springfield, along with patients, friends and family gathered at Cedars Hospital to hear Dr. Ed Bauer (Mart Hulswit) read the story of the first Christmas. Watch it below and be sure to notice young Phillip, Chrissy (later known as Blake) and Freddie (later known as Rick). How many characters do you recognize?

  3. The older, white-haired gent next to Bert is Dr. Stephen Jackson (actor Stefan Schnabel), Leslie Jackson Bauer's father. And actually Stephen turned out to be Leslie's stepfather, since the story that Leslie's mother had died when she was an infant was evetually revealed to be a lie. Her mother had run off with another man. When she showed up, she told everyone that Stephen wasn't really Leslie's biological father, a fact which Stephen confirmed, having known all along while raising Leslie by himself.

  4. Just before this Freddie arrives and compares Christmas gifts with best friend Phillip, and greets his grandparents (Bert and Stephen).

  5. The guy next to Holly is Dr. Peter Chapman. The cute dark-haired doc is Greg Fairbanks, who had an affair with Rita. I believe the long-haired woman near Ed is Lainie Marler.

  7. Dr. Peter Chapman was played by a marvelous actor named Curt Dawson (1939-1985). He also played Ronnie Talbot on ATWT in the early 1970s & Zachary Colton on AW in the early 1980s.
